Hammer gave her victory speech as local unofficial results show her in a big lead against Rebecca Minnick.
“I feel surreal, I feel like it’s a dream.” Hammer said.
I am officially signing off for the night.

Just arrived at Hays City Store & Ice House. Though votes aren’t finalized yet, both Anthony Hipolito and Morgan Hammer are in positive spirits as both are in the lead in their separate races - Sheriff and Commissioner Court, Pct. 3 respectively. #Election2024#ElectionDay
When I spoke to Hammer around 8:29, she said she was feeling great and that she felt like her campaign was extremely clean and respectful.
“As long as the counties are being taken care of with the utmost integrity and transparency, we’re winning.”

Hammer remains in the lead as of 8:34 p.m., but nothing yet has been finalized. Check out unofficial results here: https://t.co/qeNV2hIuEY #Election2024#ElectionDay

Leaving Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos to go to a watch party at Hays City Store & Ice House, where multiple local politicians will be waiting for results. Will update! @UniversityStar#ElectionDay#Election2024#SMTX
Just finished voting at Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos! When I left, there was still about 20 - 25 people in line. #SMTX#Election2024#ElectionDay
It’s 7:00 p.m. and I haven’t voted yet, but I’m in line and will not be leaving the line - even if the poll is closing, if you’ve been in line, stay to vote. It’s your right. #Election2024#ElectionDay#SMTX
I wish I early voted because there is still a >20 minute wait at this location like a lot of polling locations in San Marcos. Again, check wait times here: https://t.co/o3dhPDi7es

I’m going to take a moment to vote myself! Again, everyone’s voice matters. If you haven’t voted yet, you have until 7 p.m. to enter a polling location line. As long as you’re in line at 7, you can stay in line until you get the chance to vote. #Election2024#ElectionDay#SMTX

Sewell said it would be nice to see something new and some change this election with some people voting differently than they did the previous election.
“I would prefer somebody that takes their role seriously and is able to show that to other countries as well.”

Just spoke with two #SMTX voters, Megan Sewell and Hope Mellott.
Mellott said issues that brought her to vote today include women’s rights and immigration.
“It’s really hard to be a woman, especially in a predominantly red state… it’s really hard to get some needs met,”

As of 3:30 p.m., 138 voters voted at this polling location and the numbers haven’t been updated since despite the fact that it has passed 5:30 p.m. It’s however obvious that the polling place is busier than the morning hours. #SMTX#Election2024
I have arrived at Centro Cultural Hispano and it is definitely busier than earlier. The street is packed with cars. Will update with official numbers in a moment. #SMTX#Election2024#ElectionDay
Going to start live tweeting again soon! Headed to Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos again where there is a reported wait time of over 20 minutes, a big difference from this morning. #Election2024#SMTX#ElectionDay
Taking a short break from tweeting, but @LesdyHdz will be providing LBJ updates as well! Stay safe and hydrated! If you haven’t voted yet, please do! Every voice matters. 🗳️ #Election2024#ElectionDay#SMTX@UniversityStar
The wait time at LBJ is over 20 minutes. Some are having to stand outside in the heat. Bring water if you’re planning to vote here. If you need another polling location, check: https://t.co/o3dhPDi7es
