Over the last 8 years I worked on 1568 half hour episodes of tv, composed over 3500 music cues, and synced thousands of music tracks by many talented artists.

Neighbours is an Australian icon and it’s departure is going to leave a massive hole in the industry. I learnt so much working on the show and I am honoured to have composed music for tonight’s finale.

I’ve composed the soundtrack for weddings, funerals, betrayals, declarations of love, action scenes, comedy scenes, countless arguments, murders and of course it’s a soap, so yes… there was even memory loss in there too. All in all I composed 2661 music cues.

Tonight the final ever episode of @neighbours airs. I’ve been lucky enough to work on the show for the past 4.5 years. In that time I’ve composed and placed music for 1108 thirty-minute episodes of television. That’s 554 hours of television.

Covid-4 is another reflective melody, this time however in 6/8 time signature. It’s slightly more intricate than the previous Covid pieces and has a few more subtle changes. As a result it took far too many takes to get it right, but I’m really happy with the final performance.

Here’s the next in the series: Covid-3 by Jamie Messenger

…or as my partner subtitled it: “Is the lockdown still going? Yes, the lockdown is still going.”

Covid-3 is in D minor, the saddest of all keys. The mood is more melancholic but there’s still some hope coming through.

This was the mid point of my series of five piano pieces. I think the overall tone and feeling of the piece resonates well with being in the middle of a lockdown, and the surprisingly mournful feelings that can be associated with it.
