Here's what I don't understand: the lies are so blatant and indefensible. I'll give one example:

There is a massive body of evidence on "the funding effect." As the name suggests, these studies focus on how financial conflicts of interest influence research outcomes.

They universally find that ANY financial conflicts of interest (no matter how small — literally a single slice of pizza) changes research outcomes in the direction of the funder. So the presence of any financial conflict of interest means that the results are not true, are not scientific, they are contaminated by bias. Of all the findings in modern science, the funding effect is the largest, most reliable, and most reproducible.

Given that, how can anyone justify the endless financial conflicts of interest in scientific journals; the revolving door at CDC, FDA, & NIH; the fact that the FDA gets more than half of its funding from Pharma; and the fact that the only "data" used in approving new drugs comes directly from the manufacturers.

This system that we call "science" is not science. It's this grotesque version of capitalism. It's marketing. It's data laundering. We know that this data is not reliable. No actual scientist could ever defend this system. And yet they all do.

So we are left with this Potemkin society where everyone goes around pretending to care about science when in fact any objective measure of this data will prove that it's fraudulent. And then "science" kills millions of people every year and we're all expected to double down on the lies lest our society crumble into a heap of absurdity, which it already is.

Several years ago, I became septic after getting the flu. I had the flu shot. I was on a ski trip and decided to pop ibuprofen and go skiing. I tried to tough it out and waited until I could no longer stand to get treatment. Ended up in the ICU and on pressors. Early treatment and rest could have prevented that. The flu shot was not helpful.
