@Devindra I like it a lot! More driving than walking, honestly, but we had similar criteria when we moved and are happy here. Downtown area small but nice, a few good restaurants, one really great, lots of other towns a short drive away each with a good spot or two. Super-liberal.
@Devindra Hello! Longtime Filmcast listener/Maplewood resident here. It’s a good town — calling it suburban Brooklyn is an exaggeration but not by much. Moved here from Park Slope several years ago, with zero regrets. (Well, many regrets, but none NJ-related.) Any specific questions?
Sad to hear that @adhousebooks is winding down, but glad to see so many comics folks celebrating Chris Pitzer today. Great publisher, even greater person. I’m forever honored & grateful that my weird book is among those he put out into the world. Go read some AdHouse books!
@scott_tobias@nytimes More reference-spotting: the Barton Arms is also where Gabriel Byrne lives in Miller’s Crossing. Missed opportunity for Whishaw to chase his hat?
@noahjnelson@GWillowWilson A few moments are enriched by having seen the prior episodes, but more often that prior knowledge is confusing since the 12-hour thing is so different.
@noahjnelson@GWillowWilson Absolutely. There are a couple sentences of setup text that tell you all you need to know. There is very little dialogue at all, and what little there is is often inaudible. The narrative is pretty simple and feels very different from the series.
@noahjnelson@GWillowWilson Highly recommend watching at least some of it while it’s available on HBO and Sky’s Facebook pages. Completely baffled why HBO has barely even mentioned it’s existence. If this were the actual series it would be talked about like Twin Peaks The Return
@noahjnelson@GWillowWilson The series is nothing too new, but it’s not bad — good atmosphere and terrific performances. But the 12-hour Autumn performance is really something special. Actually captures a little bit of the Punchdrunk magic, which I wouldn’t have thought possible on video.
@cassmarketos Lots of good recommendations (including some free fonts) and simple advice on choosing the right one for a given brand: https://t.co/xbwrREdzG6
