@RupertLowe10 You’ve got my vote ! I joined the party this week for exactly this reason I used to have my own business but now I’ve been made a zero rights “employee” and I don’t want to be one anymore
@JeromeMayhew@MelJStride Mel Stride is a proven liar and he does it on a regular basis to Journalists
He is a blinkered tin-eared politician with no ability to listen to others

@RLong_Bailey@loanchargeAPPG Tory #LoanCharge was brainchild of ex-Chancellor George Osborne, here pictured with Michelle Mone, wife of #LoanCharge scheme promoter (and Tory donor). Doug Barrowman.
What goes around, comes around.
Thank you @RachelReevesMP for recognising #LoanCharge victims were mis-sold and COMMITTING @UKLabour to INDEPENDENT Review if Government don't act.
Thank you @IainDale & Doug.

@GeraldJonesLAB#LoanChargeDebate 18th Jan 2024
Crippling debt. Bankruptcy. Suicides. The Loan Charge has destroyed lives.
Today, I took part in the debate on this devastating policy.
HMRC has behaved extremely cruelly towards the victims of the Loan Charge.
It must stop misleading Parliament and come clean about this mess.
Speaking in the #LoanChargeDebate on Thursday. HMRC is unable to find any legal basis to justify its claim that it has to pursue individuals, but not those who promoted the schemes. #HMRC has tried to deny that for some time, but it has now become very clear that HMRC still cannot justify the legal basis for pursuing individuals and not going after those who promoted the schemes.
During the debate I raised the cases of three of my constituents, all of whom have been facing bullying tactics, anxiety and fear of losing their homes. HMRC conjured up a retrospective process to deal with this, which is appalling. Historically, that has not been done—you deal with where you were at the beginning—but HMRC felt it had lost a whole load of taxation and did not want to blame itself. What it did was to go after those individuals, threaten them and cajole them.
My constituents and many others who have faced this issue should not be pursued in a way that treats them from the start as a criminal, rather than as somebody involved in something that HMRC never said was illegal at the time, but is now pretending that it is. I hope the Government will now recognise that we do not want to see a repeat of what happened with the #PostOfficeScandal as a result of HMRC’s bad behaviour. @loanchargeAPPG@LCAG_2019
Crucial #LoanCharge debate in Parliament today and victims making their voices heard! We will now stop fighting for justice, are MP's & @hmtreasury listening?
1/6 Whilst @HMRCgovuk staff pitched for funding for Project ROAR to "make it real" for people ensnared in #LoanChargeScandal schemes peddled by unscrupulous promoters, why didn't they consider tackling the relatively few people whose business model was basically to conspire to
Today I have urged @RishiSunak to seriously consider the settlement proposals put forward by @loanchargeAPPG - many of my constituents currently face financial uncertainty and changes to Loan Charge legislation could make all the difference. #LoanCharge#Covid19
The Loan Charge is an unjust and retrospective tax affecting 50,000 people. The Morse review went nowhere near far enough. If the Government does not address it in the Finance Bill, MPs will take it into our own hands.
