Literally laughing because I've even structured my days as a freelancer into stations & move on to the next task when I get bored-- only to eventually circulate through and finish all my tasks by the end of the week
This morning Tiktok made me realize that being a #Montessori kid has shaped my entire adult life. I have honed multiple skills & love them equally, & don't understand the concept of being put into a box.
The thing is, #HustleCulture & #FreelanceCulture will have you believing that creative entrepreneurs must work 'round the clock to survive, let alone BUILD. It's a fallacy that I have no space for, & instead, I welcome creativity, community, peaceful revolution, passion & love!
Last year I made a pact with myself to set more #boundaries surrounding my time/energy. I was afraid that my career would suffer, I'd make less money & the people around me wouldn't like me as much. Yes, I'm a recovering #PeoplePleaser . Contrary, the exact opposite happened.
Leading with more intention & greater attention to what I really valued in life, I made more progress in my career than ever and made more quality memories with the people I loved. I did anger & frustrate people, though: the people who benefited from my perpetual people pleasing.
“If democracy-minded people don’t seize control of the information environment, powerful sociopathic autocrats will do so instead. We leave a power vacuum open at our peril, and at the moment, Musk and Putin are the ones with the most will to fill it.” https://t.co/pCzjmYgiNK
With so much of film and television being enjoyed on streamers and new media companies, we need to protect our writers, stories and ensure that Canada doesn't become a production service-based industry. #C11
African-Canadian narratives are rarely seen in film and tv and it's been an uphill battle championing BIPOC narratives over the past 8 years of my career. We're making progress though, and I look forward to a day where film is authentically diverse and intersectional
Pleased to announce I'll be speaking at the Vancouver Black Film Festival #VBFF in December about creating space for African-Canadian stories & finding diverse creative communities! @WGCtweet @The_CMPA@twuc
Instead, of saying that the majority of Metro Vancouver residents are visual minorities (a double negative?), we can unapologetically state that BIPOC are the majority in #MetroVancouver
Hoping that this means we can move on from dated census terminology that others cultural groups that aren't White. If BIPOC are now the majority in #MetroVancouver then why are we still being labeled as a visible minority?

Historically, census research & data programs have been used in Canada to control, alienate & quite literally destroy BIPOC communities. Language is impactful & we must update terminology to serve our people-- especially when it has an ugly past.
Structurally, mirroring its own name, the film cheekily separates each of its three acts into three devastating realities of today -- which are each devastatingly hilarious! More on @letterboxd#RubenÖstlund
#TriangleofSadness is a reminder that society rewards beauty: it & success are often a facade-- whether you are selling a s6*t product or hiding behind fake followers. https://t.co/NVbRPO6rJ2
