Kenya's Deputy President, Geoffrey Rigathi Gachagua, has been impeached by the National Assembly. A total of 281 MPs voted in favor of his removal, 44 opposed, while one abstained.

The case will now move to the Senate. Should the Senate uphold the decision, Gachagua will become the first deputy president to be impeached under Kenya's 2010 Constitution.
