@iwelsh Let's say you live in Nova Scotia and are at the highest tax bracket. You will pay 54% of your earnings in taxes. I think that is high enough don't you Ian? How about we cut funding for new immigrants, or will that put us further into recession?
@RealDonBradshaw All of which has helped increase the debt and put us in a recession! If the economy was strong and we weren't taxed into oblivion, most Canadians wouldn't need government handouts!
@RayburnBev Ontario contributes the most tax revenue because of your population.
Canadaβs general government tax revenue (including personal, corporate, sales, and property taxes) is highly concentrated in Ontario, Quebec, and British Columbia, though Alberta leads on a per capita basis.
Poilievre makes the BEST point here
If Donald Trump is to blame for Canada being in a recession
WHY is no other country in a recession?
WHY is MEXICO not in a recession??
@iwelsh If you live in Nova Scotia and you add in the highest Provincial tax onto the Federal tax, you are at 54%. More than half your earnings. You're saying that isn't enough? Don't forget about property tax, GST/HST, gas tax, etc. etc. etc.
@MgtmMoisan@ABDanielleSmith He must have used the almost $5 billion in equalization the province received in 2025 to achieve this. Manitoba paid $0 into the equalization pool in 2025. Alberta paid over $26 billion into the equalization pool. Just imagine what Alberta could have done with these funds!
BREAKING NEWS
Mark Carneyβs Health Minister is REFUSING to testify at the health committee on the failed $300 MILLION PrescribeIT program.
She can find time to appear at other committees, but not the committee responsible for holding her accountable.
This is unacceptable.
@MichaelCooperMP@FP_Champagne He's not talking down the space industry, he's asking how the Government spent $20 million of hard earned taxpayer dollars to lease a concrete pad on a gravel lot. And you don't have any reasonable answers for him. Why don't you share the details with Canadians???
After years of working and paying taxes, the media is pushing for elderly benefits to be cut back. Meanwhile a refugee claimant receiving $224.00 per day in assistance is good to go.
You canβt hate the media enough in Canada.
UNBELIEVABLE!!! Govt documents released:
Mark Carney's government hasnβt turned a shovel or laid an inch of track for the high-speed rail project, yet they are paying out millions in executive bonuses!
100% of officials at Alto got big bonuses. For what? Meetings and photo-ops?
@RodAVanier Rod, I think it was Stephen Harper's fault! I'm sure it has nothing to do with the Liberals printing millions of dollars over the last 11 years, horrible Liberal policies, or spending money like drunken sailors...
I cannot articulate my disgust over the fact that this horribly traumatised Canadian family cannot βqualifyβ for victim services, and are now bouncing between sleeping in the back of their car and couch surfing at the hospital. All while βasylum seekersβ receive benefits Canadians donβt see at the best of times. Priorities!
INSANE
There should be a rule:
Any elected government official, that refuses to testify at committee, should be fined $25,000, personally.
And the party fined $250,000.
Watch how quickly they lose their smug attitude.
Corrupt Liberal mafia.
The Globe and Mail is now running opinion pieces about cutting elderly benefits because Canada faces βcrippling debt.β
Perfect.
Not cut bureaucracy.
Not cut consultants.
Not cut foreign aid.
Not cut corporate welfare.
Not cut the Liberal spending machine.
Not cut the political class that created the debt bomb.
No.
Cut grandma.
That is how this always works.
Trudeau, Freeland, Carney, and the Liberal Party help bury Canada under debt.
Then the establishment media starts preparing Canadians for the βunpopularβ solution.
The people who built the mess never pay.
The elderly get handed the invoice.
Canada was robbed by incompetence.
Now seniors are being told to sacrifice.
Brilliant system.
@NextABPremier@dienes_tom So you agree with how the Liberals have run Canada over the last 11 years then? Keep drinking the Kool Aid bud! I'll pony up, no problem!

He predicted, 1 year 3 months ago that the U.S is heading into a recession while Canada would be ok.
Meanwhile, today, the U.S is not in a recession but we are.
Amazing Economist!
