After voting in Orangeburg, U.S. House Rep. Jim Clyburn said the proposed congressional map was probably the most “egregious” he has seen since the 1890s.
“How do you get a congressional district to go from Oconee County to Richland County and say it's constitutional?”

Democrats must take on the modern day Dred Scott Court.
South Carolina is eliminating the only Black majority seat.
Term limits on Justices now.
Expand the Court from 9 to 13 Justices.
For the next day, weeek, month, our assignment is to show up. Across the South, the flare has gone up for voting rights — and when the flare goes up, we show up.
From New York to Alabama, our fates are intertwined. That's what solidarity is all about.
Everyone knows Congressman Clyburn is a leader who has stood up not just for his district, but for his entire state - and the ridiculous criticism of him sounds like coded bigotry to me.
Speaker of the TN House Cameron Sexton just removed me and every Democrat — and therefore every Black elected official in the state legislature from any committee we served on.
This move strips nearly 2 million Tennesseans from the representation they deserve in TN state leg.
.@ClyburnSC06 to reporters on Republicans in South Carolina rejecting Trump’s push to eliminate his seat:
“Y’all can write what you want to write, but I'm gonna say it again. There is a comprehensive approach on the part of this administration to turn the clock back to what I call Jim Crow 2.0, that's what this is.
And the press — you all are not immune from this, you are the enemy of the people. Don't forget.”
BREAKING: In an incredible moment, Congressman Jim Clyburn just warned Republicans to be very careful with their gerrymanders across the south because it could backfire massively. This is a must watch.

Standing with everyone in TN, AL, MS, LA, FL, SC, and others in the fight to protect voting rights and fair representation in the wake of last week’s devastating decision.
We know there are difficult days ahead, but we must continue to organize, mobilize, and fight back in the courts, in our communities, in our legislatures, and yes in Congress. And, we must show up and vote like our democracy depends on it. Because it does.
This fight is bigger than one district. It’s about whether our democracy belongs to the people, or to politicians who change the rules when they don’t like the results.
We cannot let them succeed.
Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, who is speaking at Jim Clyburn’s annual (2028-coded) fish fry this month, on the possibility of Rs nixing Clyburn’s district:
“Jim Clyburn has been a generational leader for South Carolina and the Democratic Party, and I am proud to be with him later this month. If the Republicans use this terrible Supreme Court decision to move forward with a gerrymander designed to eliminate his seat, the entire House of Representatives will be worse off without his experience. It would also be an own-goal for South Carolina, who would lose someone who has used his tremendous influence to deliver for his people for decades.”
