Let's put on record what'll happen next: instead of admitting how flawed this system is, gov't and telcos will instead want more data collection (like biometric info). Will it solve the problem? No. Does it matter? No. They'll go for it anyway, and we'll probably let them, again.

@lianbuan Probably the best thing I liked about my internship with SALIGAN was how we were taught that lawyers should not have a monopoly of the law, which is why the org is bent on making it accessible as possible to marginalized groups. It’s an uncommon view though.

It’s 2023. The next time a PH gov’t official defends a privacy-intrusive measure by invoking the Data Privacy Act of 2012, call them out already. Ask them how many have been held to account for violations under that law. Let them give examples. Ask for receipts. #privacyPH
