I enjoyed getting the chance to see a genuine rarity, Schreker's Schmied von Gent @operaballetvl in March. They'll be streaming it with a live chat with dramaturg Piet De Volder on Friday night - definitely worth catching up with. As always with this house superbly performed.

Watched Parsifal from @operaballetvl today. What a remarkable Kundry @Arianetanja is. Voice of dark silk with staggering ease on top, the voice soaring ever higher without a hint of strain. Really impressive

Leigh Melrose sang the Schmied. Absolutely tireless physically, he gave so much of himself to us. Kai Rüütel was his unnamed wife, singing with gentle lyricism in places. Daniel Arnaldos constantly moving on stage & singing with a youthful tenor

As expected @operaballetvl the performance quality was exceptionally high - the house orchestra and choruses on blazing form, filling the room in a wall of sound & throwing themselves with great physicality into everything asked of them. This is a company at the top of its game
