"Writing is a lonely practice. When no one is around to pump you up in the process, music will always be there. When no one else understands, music finds a way."
Jan Saenz shared a playlist for her debut novel 200 Monas at @largeheartedboy https://t.co/L5okzHjiV6
I truly cannot wait for the world to meet Arvy, Wolf, Francis Pete, and the rest of the gang - on the page and onscreen. @jan_saenz has written something so very special!
@ambernoelle I think about this all the time. We hear about films at Cannes getting X minute-long standing ovations. That tells me, 1) we have normalized "timing" standing ovations, and 2) these people are unhinged. I won't even clap for 2 minutes for an encore, let alone for nothing.
@johnstjh Ah man, I miss this. We used to live next door to a HS, and we LOVED hearing the bands and applause in the distance on a Friday night. It was a Fall mood.
Just read The Picture of Dorian Gray for the first time and now I’m scared a bar has been set that no other book will ever reach, for me. I may never “love” again, only like.
@kevinrmaloney Recently reread The Sarah Book because not a year goes by I don't think about Scott McClanahan and his pink housecoat author photo and how much I miss his voice and prose and interviews.
@IronBrewer It’s incredibly disheartening. I don’t mind $3 readers fee if it’s a publication I love, but 20 a pop when you’re trying to get a manuscript out into the world?? How did we get here? 😞
