Assateague State Park, along with other beaches along the Maryland coast, is experiencing a significant amount of medical waste washing onshore. Access to the ocean will be restricted at this time. No swimming, wading, surfing, or any activities in the ocean are permitted.

This year has challenged me in ways I could not foresee. That makes me all the more grateful to @Baltimoremag for understanding and recognizing what I do and for lifting up the reporters and photographers of The Sun who remain dedicated to Baltimore.
The first half of 2024 in Baltimore ended with 89 homicides, the second fewest to start a year on record (since 1970). Just two years ago saw the worst first half on record, with 179 killings.
That's a two-year drop of more than 50 percent

-Unknown how many people or vehicles are in the water.
-Also unknown whether fuel spilled. Crews have been smelling diesel.
-Some people were pulled from water. Water is diveable.
-No sign bridge was intentionally hit, Baltimore police commissioner says.
