Lafayette Police Department has been without a permanent chief since Oct. 2021. Since MP Josh Guillory has been in office (Jan. 2020), there has been a permanent chief for 10 months. It's been without one for 20 months.

On top of that, the admin got a 30-day extension for the application period saying it was needed to hire a search firm. It hasn't done that.
And it took weeks for the first advertisement for the job to be posted.
