American and foreign multinational corporations in the past have been the large beneficiaries of the export of manufacturing jobs and the importing of products that used to be made here. Define countries did not set these boundaries. It was a companies that set the boundaries and made no profits for the shareholders. Many of these countries are poor and have no leverage against the large multinational companies. However, in China, the government there allowed foreign companies to build factories. And the government took part of the profits that their companies made to build up the infrastructure of their country. Today they have 25,000 miles of high speed rails and the largest subway network in the world. They sold 50% of car in the last quarter were EVs. A Chinese company just sold their 1 million EV. They control 90 of rare minerals. The US is crying about what their corporations have reaped record profits by maximizing profits by sending manufacturing out and importing products with enormous profit margins.
