Long waiting lists for essential services like physiotherapy are having a real impact on people’s quality of life and their ability to participate fully in everyday activities.
Following recent reporting in The Irish Times on growing primary care waiting lists, our CEO Dr. Marie Ó Mír spoke to RTÉ Drivetime about the consequences of delayed access to care, and the impact of vacancy rates on staffing.
Marie highlighted that physiotherapy is a fabulous profession, but warned that investment in staffing and working conditions is essential to ensure patients can access timely care.

Since 1987, the Anne O'Brien Prize has been awarded annually to the final year physiotherapy students who achieve the highest performance in Clinical Assessment. In 2000, it was renamed in honour of the Society's late President, Anne O'Brien, in recognition of her outstanding commitment to undergraduate clinical practice.
