What is the Jewish experience in Chicago today? We sit down with Daniel Goldwin of JUF to explore the history, diversity, and culture of Chicago’s Jewish community, the rise of anti-Semitism, and how education and outreach can combat hate. Listen here: https://t.co/hweeNkS2nt
The attack on Hatzola in London is an attack on lifesaving care itself. Destroying ambulances to target a Jewish volunteer service is antisemitic hatred. As anti-Jewish hate crimes surge in London (like Chicago), we stand with Hatzola’s volunteers and the communities they serve.
City Council just passed (48-1) my ordinance that updates the noise sensitive zone ordinance to support the diverse religious communities across Chicago. I’m proud to have worked alongside my colleagues & @JUFChicago to protect places of worship from harassment.
We commend @JCRCMINNDAK for leading an interfaith effort to confront the dangerous and escalating situation in Minneapolis. Please join their webinar to explore the legal and community consequences of “Operation Metro Surge.” (Registration link in thread)
Survivors and artifacts from Nova Music Festival bring Chicago face-to-face with Hamas attack. I was at the exhibit this morning, and every word of this story rings true. https://t.co/XvvPxVN4Zb
Jane Charney: Chicago does not feel safe for anyone, no matter our status
"When one person’s right to due process is taken away, all of us have lost that foundational right."

Thank you to the Chicago Board of Rabbis for speaking out on behalf of the First Amendment right of the immigrants detained in Broadview to celebrate Catholic Mass with @archchicago priests.
"The treatment of our neighbors, immigrants and refugees, in the streets of metropolitan Chicago contradicts our most fundamental beliefs. Our Scripture teaches: 'The stranger who resides with you shall be to you as one of your citizens...'"
Thank you Chicago Board of Rabbis.
As one of the largest humanitarian organizations in the country, serving over 500,000 vulnerable Chicagoans of all faiths, ethnicities, and nationalities, supporting at-risk communities is foundational to JUF’s mission.
The U.S. government needs to do the right thing & ensure that SNAP (food assistance) remains fully funded even during the shutdown. Organizations like @arkchicago & JUF's Dina and Eli Field EZRA Multi-Service Center will do all they can, but they cannot replace SNAP.
On July 4, 1776, our founders declared independence and launched the greatest democracy in history. On July 1 & 3, 2025, today’s leaders voted to strip food and medical care from the most vulnerable. That’s not patriotism. That’s not progress.
The Jewish Federations of Peoria & Rockford serve constituents in Rep. LaHood's district that will be devastated by Medicaid cuts. We urge Congress to reject H.R. 1.

In a 51–50 vote, the Senate approved massive cuts to Medicaid & SNAP. If enacted, hundreds of thousands of Illinoisians-children, seniors & low income families-will lose healthcare & food aid. Is the richest nation in history really about to punish our nation's most vlunerable?
We are gutted by the news of another terrorist, rocket attack targeting innocent civilians in Israel, this time kids playing soccer in the Druze Israeli village of Majdal Shams. We stand with our Druze family at this time of great sorrow.
