Everytime I see videos about the Nepal flash flood I can't help but think about Shell executives cheering for making $9.8 billion in profits this year.
Activists are right. We really should start naming climate change disasters after fossil fuel companies and their CEOS.
I genuinely don’t understand how we are supposed to casually process that a glacier literally collapsed in Nepal, erasing 19 bridges and killing over 600 people, because the planet is too hot. And instead of stopping it, billionaires are building more data centres. It is completely psychotic.
Still can’t believe people lost their minds over the “40 beheaded babies” and “babies in the ovens” fake stories, then went silent while Palestinian and Lebanese children were being blown apart in real time.
-It is still Lake Ontario
-It is still the Gulf of Mexico
-It is still the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
-He is still a pedophile.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
How the hell are you supposed to talk about the two illegal Israeli run bio labs in the US that both had COVID samples without sounding like a psychotic conspiracy brained nazi
There’s a Nepalese man on the news crying because he has lost his family in these terrible floods.
He says the floods were 10 times worse than even the worst floods they’ve ever seen.
I know people get irritated with people like me going on about climate change, but these are the stakes.
A lot of people are going to die, potentially millions, at worst billions.
I just can’t understand why the media and politicians cannot reflect what the scientists are telling us about the urgency of this moment.
These flash flood clips are absolutely terrifying because there’s no outrunning that, human life is extremely fragile and natural disasters always humble me. May all of their souls rest peacefully.
Whatever's happening in Nepal is the proof that we've already crossed the red line of climate change. We're in the red zone now. Soon the world will see horrifying natural calamities. I fear we do have have any means to reverse climate change anymore. Everything feels futile.
There's now literally video of the kind of catastrophic mega-scale destruction caused by climate change that we saw in sci-films like 2012 only a decade go. That footage from Tibet is terrifying, apocalyptic for Tibetans.
what’s happening in nepal today is nothing but devastation. i fear the death toll could cross 1000. the loss of lives and financial damage this country will face is truly unimaginable. today might scar nepal more than 2072 did. nothing but prayers for everyone affected.
The feeling of losing my Aunt Dolly is beyond what feels right to share. Our most sacred moments were private and they’ll stay there behind the stage, beneath the glamour & between our hearts.
What I KNOW is Dolly would want me to feel it, write a song about it, and then continue on and be strong. I have an angel by my side. I always have. One of our last conversations was about music and metamorphosis. 🦋
I will always love her and want to make her proud. My heart breaks for the world, her family and friends who will miss her deeply. We’re in this loss together and we will see her in all of the most beautiful things. 💖 @dollyparton
