@CIMBMalaysia you need to improve your SOP. I walked in to your branch and was informed that they’re not able to assist with online banking issues when your website told me to walk into a branch!
With the aim of trying to age gracefully, I’ve gone back to do more resistance training/weights. These damn hormones are not kidding thou, it’s harder to build muscle at this age. Then you gotta be careful not to get yourself injured so you can’t push like you were in your 20s.
@tweetingdoubts I will convey that for sure when I get a chance to speak to him. At this rate, I might have to call his PA to make an appointment to speak to him, LOLL
It’s shameful that I only understand how bad accessibility is in our city only after many months of trying to manoeuvre around with a stroller.
We don’t need more EVs. We need better infrastructure for pedestrians that are inclusive for all.
@LanaMichael My plan is to use the Sibionics for about a month while eating as how I normally would. The idea is to see which of my eating habits are bad for my sugar level. Then I’d make some adjustments and see how it goes. Some people do ask about it, I’d say it’s for a fun experiment 😬
2024 is my year of slowing down. Extreme privilege to be able to do this. Grateful. One thing I’ve been focusing on is my health, inside and out. Control what I can, make peace with what I can’t.
So I’ve been using a continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) for the past 2 weeks.
@LanaMichael It doesn’t! I even used it for swimming (safe for an hour). Try it, result may tell you something different. Oats have high carbs content so it might spike your sugar (or it might not). I highly recommend reading Dr Mindy’s book, it’s all about working with our cycle!
- Jesse Inchauspé, a biochemist, also known as the Glucose Goddess.
- Dr Lisa Mosconi, a neuroscientist. Her areas of research focusing on women are really fascinating, I’d feel giddy listening to her 😆
I think I should not be doing the same things in my 20s, now that I’m in my 40s. And continuously learning new things (backed by science), makes me excited.
These are my top resources (so far):
- Dr Mindy Pelz, author of Fast Like a Girl (must read)
I really don’t mind walking in the heat, but make the infra right. So please policymakers, elevate our standards, amend our building codes. And pls consult the right folks when you’re doing it. It’s really, really bad out here.
The skibidi, sigma, ohio thingy have entered my household.
This morning I’ve no rizz it seems according to a one 9yo. Dude, it’s 6:30am before coffee, only roosters have rizz.
These are just a few examples of how the govt views criticisms & dissent on social media.
This 'trust us, we gonna use the social media licensing power for good' is not gonna work.
Good and very fair questions. The answer is make sure PH remains in power.
Ok I jest. I jest. Serious answer below 👇🏼
Firstly, the licensing regime imposes obligations not on the end user like you and me, but on online service providers (OSPs) like Meta, X, TikTok
The primary obligation rests on the OSPs to moderate and create a safe environment, government only steps in when the OSPs fail to do so.
Secondly, the requirement for license has always been there. This isn’t a new law that needs to be passed by Parliament.
However, by way of an Exemption Order in year 2000, many content providers have been exempt from requiring a licence.
The Government intends to amend the said EO to require two types of OSPs to obtain licenses; social media and instant messaging.
This means that OSPs with 8 million users in Malaysia must have a local presence (ie local company) and obtain a licence.
The whole idea is to enforce conduct requirements on these OSPs that they must comply. These include:
1) robust measures to protect minors
2) robust measures to detect AI generated content
3) content moderation which must be quick and effective
4) clear complaints procedure for aggrieved social media users,
amongst others.
Enforcement is by way of enforcing the licence conditions. In other words, it is by way of administrative action by MCMC.
Since it is by way of administrative action by MCMC to require the OSP to do something and not enforcement of legislation, there is an in built procedure for review and appeal to an Appeals Tribunal.
The action should also be open to judicial review, especially if it relates to infringement of basic fundamental liberties.
Making OSPs responsible for the content it publishes is not something unique to Malaysia. Some countries have even more stringent requirements.
One must also remember that these OSPs have significant presence in Malaysia, with little to no accountability or responsibility for the content they allow to be published.
Not to mention, the revenue they get from our country without giving back to its people through taxes and the like.
I again reiterate; it would be easy for the government to fallback on making new laws which would further restrict freedom of speech. That would truly be a matter of concern.
