🔥 Peter Bence turning Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody into absolute classical piano FIRE!
When a world-class concert pianist gets asked for the ultimate rock opera… this is what happens. Insane speed, perfect dynamics, and pure genius on the keys 🎹😎
Dioceses regularly announce appointments and anything to do with so called ‘senior’ clergy but this is the first time I’ve seen one publicly say thank you and godspeed to a retiring parish priest. Well done, @DioceseofDurham, you may have started a fashion.
The Bishop of Durham announces that Revd Mark East will retire from his post as Vicar of Haughton Le Skerne St Andrew and Sadberge St Andrew on 31 August 2026. Bishop Rick would like to thank Mark for all the different ways in which he has served in ministry over the years, including as Area Dean of Darlington, and wishes him a long and happy retirement 🎉
@Psephizo@MadsDavies@churchofengland No. I think that if those who believed in that had remained focused on that aim they would have achieved it by now. The problem arose because it became conflated with other issues that were not the same. Which is what you’re also trying to do.
@Psephizo@MadsDavies@churchofengland Specification creep. Instead of focusing on the core issue (equality in ministry and marriage for gay ppl) until the job was done, inclusive church kept tacking on more and more issues and agendas until the enterprise began to fragment under its own weight.

‘We are deeply concerned about the potentially devastating repercussions of this proposal on trans patients’ access to healthcare, the ability of trans healthcare staff to conduct their everyday duties, and the NHS’s ability to protect the rights and dignity of their trans patients and staff’

I’m a logical kind of a gal and I need things to make conceptual sense before I sign up to them. So good morning to anyone who is still capable of grasping that in the material realm things do not change their nature and qualities because you file them under a different label.
A word to the unwary - across the @churchofengland there are many sub communities and contexts in which the rights of women are not fully upheld. Codewords to watch out for are ‘catholic’, ‘traditional’, ‘biblical’, ‘complementarian’ and ‘inclusive’.
@JohnApplebyLD@churchofengland I admit I’m speaking for women here. What I’m getting at is that these are all words that have an ‘ordinary’ and unproblematic meaning but may also have a coded and discriminatory meaning. When I hear them I know enough to check out exactly what’s meant.
I am very pleased to announce that my bug colour wheel has been accepted into this year’s Royal Academy summer exhibition. This is my sixth time. Have a look it opens on the 16th of June.

@SexMattersOrg@MForstater@Telegraph The article is paywalled so I haven’t read it. Was the Diocese of Durham Safeguarding Department asked for a response, I wonder, and if so what did they say?
@GreaterFireweed@WingsScotland He is mistaken and, yes, he must bear responsibility for the harms his views may cause ‘downstream’ but he is not as he’s been portrayed above.
Not sure I’d ever go the length of becoming an RC but I sure am grateful for RC social theology.
