The tragic case of little Preston Davey

In the UK, a gay couple—Jamie Varley and John McGowan-Fazakerley—adopted 9-month-old Preston Davey. Just four months later, the boy was dead. Prosecutors proved the men subjected him to repeated sexual and physical abuse. Varley was convicted of murdering the child after sexually assaulting him; his partner was convicted of allowing the death, along with cruelty and sexual abuse. This wasn't an isolated failure—it followed multiple hospital visits with suspicious injuries that were explained away, and social services involvement.

The debate must focus on one fundamental question:

Which family structures, values, and institutions best serve the long-term well-being of children and the future of our nation?

A healthy society must be willing to discuss difficult issues openly, respectfully, and honestly—without reflexive accusations of bigotry.

Children's welfare should always come before ideology, politics, social pressure, or any narrative that treats adoption and family formation as adult rights rather than a child's need for safety and stability.

Strong fathers. Strong mothers. Strong families.

Strong families build strong communities. Strong communities build strong nations.

This horror does not indict every same-sex couple or every adoptive parent. Evil exists in every demographic. But it does force us to ask whether we have prioritized adult desires—fast-tracked adoptions, ideological affirmations, and "diversity" in family forms—over rigorous evidence about what environments statistically minimize risk and maximize flourishing for vulnerable children. Ignoring patterns in the data, or suppressing debate in the name of compassion, leaves more children exposed. Preston deserved better. All children do.
