I don't believe a word of this from Tower Hamlets Council.
Not only was the date wrong, but apparently the time was wrong too.
Original announcement: 11 November at 11am.
New announcement: 10 November at 10:30am.
We're supposed to believe both were innocent mistakes?
In my opinion, the original scheduling was deliberate, intended to show disrespect towards British culture, tradition and history.
Now, following the backlash, we're expected to believe it was all one big coincidence.
I'm not buying it.
Here’s the incomparable Dave Allen discussing how to teach your child the time. It’s one of the most perfectly delivered stand up comedy performances of all time. Absolute genius.
@Avenger1100@RupertLowe10@TowerHamletsNow It was originally advertised for the 11th hour of the 11th day of November. The exact day and time for Remembrance of our veterans. IMO not a mistake.
Tower Hamlets Council were called out about it yesterday. This is them backtracking.
I've been blocked by Labour MP Apsana Begum.
I've called her out numerous times for what I believe is her habit of prioritising issues affecting Bangladesh over the needs of the British people she was elected to represent.
Now she's blocked me.
It seems she can't handle scrutiny of her political priorities from me, a British voter.
This is the first time I've ever been blocked by a sitting Member of Parliament.
I find it highly disrespectful that an elected MP has chosen to block me.
MPs hold public office, are accountable to the British people and should expect their actions to be subjected to public scrutiny.
Blocking criticism doesn't make the questions go away.
I understand why people are taking a second look at the Tories given the mess Reform is in, but you have to listen carefully to what Badenoch says. She thinks the disintegrating social fabric can be repaired with managerial tinkering. She ultimately thinks it's a integration problem - and an institutional problem (fixing the police, the schools and the operating assumptions of authorities).
While these are all changes that need to happen, they needed to happen at least ten years ago - but there's no integrating the Boriswave. Most of it is garbage immigration that can only be a net drain. The policies Badenoch has thus far backed only go some of the way. Ending ILR is essential, as is deporting illegals and removing benefits, but the policy has to be an active policy of complete Boriswave reversal.
On that score, for Badenoch to be convincing, she ought to be showing as much contempt for the Tories who enabled the Boriswave as she does Reform.
This where the Tory party itself becomes the main barrier. Shabana Mahmood has faced opposition from her back benchers on marginal ILR reforms - but there's no reason to expect the Tory party will be any different. They all spout the same bullshit rhetoric about "fairness" and "British values", and Tories almost certainly will seek carve-outs for care workers on the same basis. The exception becomes the loophole.
Without an unequivocal recognition that the Boriswave was a historic error in need of urgent correction, the Tory party is just another managed decline option. Same destination, slower speed.
17.4 million people voted to Leave the EU and end free movement.
But one man, who only a few months ago wasn’t even an MP, believes he has the god given right to ignore them.
Go to hell Andy Burnham.
@Lilosita_no1@RupertLowe10@WilsonBlackett Depressingly true. The high trust society is long gone now. Thanks to Labour/Tory/Lib politicians and their policies and the resulting change to our demography.
@thenowherephoto You are doing a fantastic job. On that the BBC avoids due to its woke bias.
Perhaps one time you could follow a BBC reporter around and see how they ignore the violence going on. Film them ignoring it. Look over here, don't look over there. The BBC way.
PARIS RIOTS: THE TROUBLE DIDN’T START WHEN THE PROTEST ENDED.
The truth is, from what I witnessed yesterday in Paris, the protest started peacefully. Yes, absolutely.
But anyone with eyesight, a modicum of intelligence, some awareness and experience could see that not everyone in that crowd was there to protest.
Some were there for what would happen AFTER the protest.
They were there from the beginning, waiting for their opportunity.
When the peaceful protesters left, the rioters remained.
And then came the violence, destruction and chaos.
Let’s be absolutely clear. Plenty of people were there to protest peacefully, and they did exactly that.
But the troublemakers were obvious long before the first serious trouble started.
In my opinion, the protest organisers could see what was coming. They chose to turn a blind eye.
You cannot stand alongside people clearly looking for trouble and then pretend to be shocked when that trouble arrives.
Ignorance isn’t a defence.
I was there. I watched it unfold.
And there’s a massive difference between what people want you to believe happened and what actually happened.
Tesco “Rosedene Farms” branding conjures up the impression a cosy British orchard. The apples are from France.
This is farmwashing: packaging designed to make imported food look local and dupe shoppers into thinking they’re buying British.
STAGED NEWS?
Yesterday, I watched a news reporter take FIVE attempts to get one segment right for her cameraman.
But it was the final two takes that caught my attention.
She actually directed women holding protest signs to move around and positioned them exactly where she wanted them for the best visual effect.
In my opinion, that’s not documenting events. That’s staging them.
There’s nothing wrong with interviewing people, asking questions or getting different opinions.
But your job as a journalist is to capture what’s happening in front of you, not rearrange it to create the shot you want.
It’s journalism, not a bloody wedding photoshoot.
Report what you see, not what you want people to see.
Be trustworthy.

HMRC is sending out an intrusive letter to those people it regards as wealthy, asking for large quantities of information about their personal affairs and assets.
One person who received the letter said: “Who do these people think they are, the Stasi? This will only encourage more people to leave.”
Lizzie Murray, a partner at the accountants Saffery, advised that: “Taxpayers should not feel obliged to provide wide-ranging amounts of information to HMRC. Details of an individual’s wider asset base are only relevant to the extent that HMRC has concerns that income, gains or other taxable events relating to those assets have not been properly reported.”
While HMRC is currently claiming that these letters are only being sent to the very wealthy, no doubt it won't be long before every higher or additional rate taxpayer gets one.
This fishing expedition is an intolerable intrusion into the private lives of British citizens and should be stopped forthwith.
We post the full text of the letter in the thread below.

Labour MP Apsana Begum is back on X talking about Bangladesh. Again.
She's paid nearly £100,000 a year to represent her British constituents.
Now her latest post has attracted a rather embarrassing community note, “Apsana Begum is a UK MP. Due to the huge amounts of posts about issues in Bangladesh it is important that her constituents realise she is supposed to be representing them.”
Another Labour MP publicly embarrassed through X's community notes.
Her constituents are entitled to ask where her priorities lie.
Labour, this party is now the government, is this ethical🧐

Experian built Labour a database of over 1 million new mums.
The data came from Emma's Diary - a pregnancy advice site that sold names, addresses and kids' ages without telling mums it would go to a political party. 😳🤦
ICO fined them £140,000. Labour used it to target mums in marginal seats before the 2017 election.
A million women. One fine. Almost no press.
MY FORECAST FOR THE UK. A WARNING FROM FRANCE. 🇬🇧
France is the gateway to Britain. Our closest major continental neighbour, a major trading partner and a country through which vast numbers of people and goods pass on their way to the UK.
That makes France a powerful indicator of what could happen here next.
It’s like watching history unfold, but in real time.
Truth be told, I believe France is losing its national identity.
In many of the places I’ve visited, France simply doesn’t feel French anymore.
And I fear that in another ten years, another generation, the changes we’re witnessing could become irreversible.
Britain needs to act NOW.
Not tomorrow. Not next week. NOW.
Minor political disagreements need putting aside because, in my opinion, we’re approaching a different kind of conflict.
Not one fought with conventional weapons, but one involving demographics, birth rates, immigration, borders and national identity.
The future of a country is shaped not just by its history, but by the decisions its people make today.
Secure our borders.
Stop illegal immigration.
Demand political accountability.
Protect our national identity.
The clocks went back an hour today.
I wish we could turn them back twenty years.
Call this my Rasputin post. After everything I’ve witnessed, I am more convinced than ever that Britain is approaching a crossroads.
And the longer we refuse to confront difficult questions, the fewer choices we’ll have.
Apologies for a negative post on a Sunday.
I’m about to board a plane in a storm, but frankly, it’s the storm I see gathering back home that worries me more.
My final message is simple: don’t just read this, shake your head and carry on with your Sunday. Ask questions. Challenge your representatives. Demand answers. Make your voice heard, peacefully and democratically.
Because if we leave the decisions about Britain’s future to everyone but ourselves, we cannot complain when we don’t recognise the country we’ve become.
The time to take responsibility for our future is now.
I’m just the guy who films things and shows you what’s actually happening, it’s up to you to make an informed judgement
Adrian
@cfdownes_ We have a weak government that appears to be losing allies fast.
They tell us we could be going to war within 1000 days. Just wondering who it will be with? USA, France, Germany, Israel, Argentina or even Russia.
