@nowtoronto When it happened near me, it was because a passenger pushed the stop request button while the bus was turned off. The driver told them not to do that again.
@TTChelps The cyclist was young and aggressive. An injured or elderly rider has no power to self enforce. Need more than my own words. Need rules banning all bikes and kick scooters from blue seats.
@TTChelps e-cyclist taking up blue seats forces me to move and I have a broken foot. Please make it rule bikes can't be in the designated seats. 10:10 AM subway car 6065.
Won't be going to the #UofTReunion this year. The TTC is shutting the Yonge line this weekend north of St Clair. Gridlock in the city is already insane.
@TTChelps The splitting of the Yonge 97 route is abysmal. The 97A arrives at Lawrence 8-10 minutes early, meaning the wait for the downtown leg is more than 10 minutes in the cold.
@TTCnotices A rider called customer service from the platform to be told there was someone with a knife in Eglinton Stn. The thing is, the entrances were not blocked. So the whole time, the TTC was letting more riders in only to get stuck on a platform where there was such a threat. Why???
@TTChelps I hope there's an investigation into the confusing & conflicting messaging that went out during the line 1 shutdown today. Some sources said trains were bypassing Eglinton but then they turned the train at St Clair. Never knew what to believe.
@TheAgenda @spaikin@KeepTORmoving @EMcMahon_TCT @TCTrail@AlisonVStewart@CycleToronto@carastern Ebikes are a disaster for pedestrians because in many cases the operators choose to speed on sidewalks, often going the wrong way and without bells, lights. They sneak up on walkers. Police don't enforce the laws because the Fords actually weakened the bike bylaw in 2014.
@TheAgenda @spaikin@KeepTORmoving @EMcMahon_TCT @TCTrail@AlisonVStewart@CycleToronto@carastern We actually need bike lanes extended farther north on Yonge, At Lawrence and Yonge we've had some very serious accidents because without cycle lanes, the cars travel at highway speeds. Bike lanes up here would act as traffic calming and get the traffic speeds down.
@TheAgenda How is this a fair discussion when you have no one representing pedestrians. I'm for bike lanes but we need to make sure cyclists are using them and not the sidewalks. But in too many instances cyclists use the sidewalks right beside bike lanes.
@ttcriders @TheAgenda The TTC speaker said they welcome bikes, but many food couriers are starting to take up 5 seats between themselves and their bikes, sometimes at rushhour. The other day there was one taking up 5 BLUE seats when people needed those seats on a streetcar.
@spaikin @TwitterSpaces @CheriseBurda Don't chalk it all up to mental health. As Steve said the loss of civility is huge. When I've been threatened it's by angry, entitled kids, not mentally ill people.
@spaikin @TwitterSpaces @CheriseBurda Vision zero means nothing when the sidewalks are full of electric and speeding bikes, foot scooters, skateboards. Sadly the city rescinded the sidewalk biking bylaw in 2014. Yesterday in 1 minute I got brushed by one bike courier and nearly hit by another in pedestrian space.
@checkupcbc When my dad died, I took over his phone number. That number gets dozens of calls from distant area codes and some that my phone app flags as "likely fraud". I let all my calls go unanswered. If it's a real call, they'll leave a voicemail.
@checkupcbc When offered a credit/debit receipt, take it with you. Don't let the cashier trash it. You have no idea how the store disposes of all those unwanted receipts with the last 4 digits of your number.
@checkupcbc The show didn't cover random attacks on the elderly - one of which recently took the life of a retired CBC producer. Also the rise in violence by girls -citing the 8 girls who killed a man in Toronto in December. IIRC, they weren't from backgrounds of mental health.
