Warrant Officer Karl Sander (sometimes spelled Sanders), a dedicated KwaZulu-Natal Hawks narcotics veteran with over 40 years of service, testified at the ongoing Madlanga Commission. He described how his personal coffee machine, the one thing he called his "only safe space" during exhausting, dangerous shifts fighting drug syndicates, was brazenly stolen from right inside the Hawks' own Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI) offices.
Instead of launching a proper investigation into the theft or supporting one of their own officers, senior management (including a General Senona) treated him as the prime suspect. They subjected this loyal officer to a humiliating polygraph test over the theft of his own damn coffee machine. He even laughed bitterly on the stand while recounting it, saying he "just wanted it back."
This wasn't some isolated prank. It happened against the backdrop of major drug theft scandals in the Hawks, including the 2021 disappearance of 541kg of cocaine (worth around R200 million) from a Port Shepstone exhibit room; cases where honest officers like Sander have been sidelined, transferred, denied promotions, and harassed for actually doing their jobs against the cartels.
South Africans, fed up with the endless corruption and dysfunction, exploded in support. A BackaBuddy campaign launched by Durban paramedic Kyle van Reenen with a humble R5,000 goal has now smashed through R350,000+ (and still climbing) from thousands of donors.
People are calling it a rare feel-good moment in a country drowning in crime and betrayal.
Sander has said he’ll buy a new coffee machine and use the surplus to fund narcotics detection dogs for harbor operations, turning public outrage into something practical.
But let's be real. This story shouldn't even exist. In a functioning country, a veteran anti-drug officer shouldn't have to rely on public crowdfunding because the very institution meant to fight crime can't stop its own people from stealing a damn coffee machine, or worse, turns on the honest ones.
This is the ANC's South Africa in 2026. Institutions hollowed out by cadre deployment, protection of criminals, and persecution of those who refuse to play along. The Hawks, supposedly the elite unit, are a circus of theft, suspicion, and incompetence.
One decent officer gets a rare win from the public, but it doesn't fix the broken system that's destroying this country.
The number of men I know who have to spend a week in the doghouse every time they go on a MANDATORY WORK TRIP is so baffling to me.
Bro already feels bad enough that he has to leave, and then his wife does the “ok” text thing the whole time and just casts a dark shadow on his entire day/week. Brutal.
Many of these wives love the lifestyle afforded by the salary that comes with the corporate title and role, the vacations and SUVs and girls trips and private schools, and then pout and mope around the house when Chad actually has to do his job.
These dudes look absolutely deflated on the last day of travel knowing they have to go home and basically tiptoe around moody woman doing the silent treatment routine for the next three days.
Conversely, the guys with grateful, supportive, joyful wives cannot wait to get home.
An excellent, godly wife is an infinite force multiplier, in every area of life.

Why are they in South Africa????
Come on, @Our_DA@jsteenhuisen@geordinhl . This is getting embarrassing.
You’re screaming about 28,000 “missing” parolees like Pieter Groenewald personally opened the prison gates yesterday and waved them goodbye. But even your beloved AmaBhungane report, the one you’re waving around, admits that over 15,860 of them are “archived absconders” from 1991 to 2004. That’s the ANC’s golden era of cadre deployment and total system collapse.
Groenewald’s been in the job for less than two years, cleaning up a department that was a dumpster fire long before he got there. Yet here you are, slapping his face on dramatic graphics and demanding he be summoned like a criminal, while your own ministers get gentle handshakes for their disasters.
We all see the hypocrisy and selective outrage, pure GNU infighting as you’re pretending to be concerned about safety. South Africans aren’t stupid. We can read the fine print. If you’re going to play this game, at least be consistent and own the decades of rot you helped inherit.
Stop the cheap shots and fix the damn system together, or the voters will fix you at the next election.
#OwnGoal #ReadTheFullReport
@Our_DA You are going to loose votes if you continue with this argument. Even long time supporters of the DA will not accept this. How is Groenewald meant to "get absconders" that disappeared in the last 30 years back in custody???
For every 1,000 people on Earth:
288 are Christian.
256 are Muslim.
149 are Hindu.
41 are Buddhist.
2 are Jewish.
Yes, two.
And yet somehow, those 2 people in ever 1000 are endlessly blamed for war, finance, media, politics, colonialism, capitalism, communism, immigration, nationalism, globalism and apparently now even the weather.
People march in the streets in America chanting:
“Jews will not replace us.”
Replace who exactly? How?
Mathematically, 2 people cannot replace the other 998.
Even if the Jewish population were 10 times larger, it would still barely register globally.
Ten times the number is just 2% of the population ie 98% are still not Jews, as opposed to the current 99.8% who aren’t…
And it gets even more absurd.
Of those 2 Jews, roughly 1 lives in Israel.
A country that occupies around 0.4% of the Middle East.
Not 40%.
Not 4%.
A tiny 0.4%.
And yet the world remains obsessively fixated on this microscopic minority as though it is somehow the central force behind all human misfortune.
At some point, rational people have to ask themselves a difficult question:
When many of 998 people become consumed with blaming the 2, what does that really say about the 2?
Nothing.
But it does tell us far more about those within the 998 who blame the 2. It talks to an absurd sickness.
The world has become completely detached from proportion, logic, reality, mathematics and reason.
So, if anyone cannot see the sheer madness in that by now, then perhaps the madness has already become normalised through algorithms, mainstream media and brainwashing.
Oh, and within that 2 in every 1000 we somehow find remarkable individuals like:
Albert Einstein, Sigmund Freud, Jonas Salk, Robert Oppenheimer, Levi Strauss, Estée Lauder, Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, Barbara Streisand, Neil Diamond, Bob Dylan, Adam Levine, Leonard Cohen, Steven Spielberg, Jerry Seinfeld, Dustin Hoffman, Scartlet Johanssen, Natalie Portman, Harrison Ford, Timothy Chalemet, Daniel Ratcliffe etc etc etc (including over 20% of all Nobel prize winners).
First, they attack you for noticing.
Second, they say “You’re wrong, it’s not that!”
Third, they say “You’re a bad person if you don’t see it our way”
Fourth, they say “Yes we’re doing that and it’s good!”
These are wicked people who use communication to deceive.
“WHILE THEY WERE SINGING “FREE PALESTINE,” SOUTH AFRICA WAS BURNING
For years South Africans have been told what to care about.
March for Palestine. Block roads for Gaza. Shout at Israel. Wear the keffiyeh. Change your profile picture. Repeat the slogans. Ignore your own collapsing country.
And while politicians, activists, NGOs, celebrities, university radicals, and professional protesters were busy exporting outrage to the Middle East, South Africa was quietly sliding toward social explosion.
Now suddenly government ministers are panicking.
Justice Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi has admitted what many ordinary South Africans already knew: government ignored the anti-illegal immigration protests while they were still “provincial matters.” They ignored the frustrations in townships. Ignored the anger over jobs. Ignored the pressure on clinics, schools, housing, crime, and collapsing infrastructure.
Ignored it… until it became national and bloody.
Now there are emergency JCPS meetings. Now there are “rules of engagement.” Now there is concern. Now there is urgency.
Why?
Because the fire has become too big to hide.
The political class always waits until communities explode before pretending to listen. South Africans have been crying for years about unemployment, border failures, crime syndicates, drug trafficking, human trafficking, corruption, and the collapse of law enforcement. But instead of dealing with real issues affecting ordinary citizens, the nation was constantly distracted with imported political theatre.
Every week there is another Palestine march. Another anti-Israel protest. Another manufactured outrage campaign.
Meanwhile:
South Africans cannot find jobs.
Townships are drowning in crime.
Borders are porous.
Hospitals are overwhelmed.
Infrastructure is collapsing.
Communities are angry.
Citizens feel abandoned.
But somehow we were told the biggest moral issue facing South Africa was always Israel.
The hypocrisy is staggering.
Many of the same voices who scream about “occupation” overseas say almost nothing while South Africans feel occupied by corruption, criminality, government failure, and uncontrolled illegal immigration at home.
This is what happens when leaders abandon reality and govern through ideology, slogans, and public relations instead of truth and accountability.
Now tensions are exploding because pain ignored eventually becomes anger.
None of this justifies violence, xenophobia, or attacks on innocent people. Lawlessness must never become the answer. But pretending citizens have no legitimate frustrations is equally dangerous and dishonest.
A government that ignores its people long enough eventually loses control of the streets.
South Africans are tired. Tired of unemployment. Tired of corruption. Tired of being unheard. Tired of political performances while communities collapse.
The real tragedy is that many activists helped create this environment by training society to be emotionally outraged about everything happening overseas while remaining strangely silent about the growing crisis inside South Africa itself.
The country was bleeding while they were singing.
And now the explosion they ignored has arrived at their own doorstep.
Shalom
Pastor Thom”
🌍💙 Happy Africa Day!
Together, let’s keep building an Africa where communities are safer, economies grow and every citizen has the opportunity to thrive.
A British lad, ran THE CAPE TOWN MARATHON in a Batman suit to remember 2 babies murdered by Hamas terrorists. 🧡🧡
Some in this city should hang their head in utter shame. Especially the mayor, @geordinhl - supposedly carrying the “flame of peace”
And Batman didn’t wave a Foreign flag. He had a South African flag draped around his shoulders.
Unlike the hating death cultists.
