For me, this was one of the first experiences that showed how closely research, advocacy, healthcare systems, and community engagement are connected.
And it continues to shape how I think about the role of science in addressing challenges that matter to the communities around us
One of the earliest opportunities I had during NYSC was working with the @Aghogho_SS_Fd on an advocacy and outreach program for people living with sickle cell disease.
At first, I saw it as an opportunity to contribute to a community project
What I didn't expect was how much…
That experience reinforced something I have continued to carry with me:
Science does not end at discovery.
Its value is fully realized when knowledge can be translated into solutions, policies, products, and interventions that improve people’s lives.
People like this shape how younger people see growth and leadership. They make learning easier, and they influence how we’ll treat people when it’s our turn to lead too.
More people would thrive if mentorship and intentionality were taken more seriously in professional spaces.
I’m officially done with NYSC
This past year gave me the opportunity to work at the Drug Research and Production Unit Faculty of Pharmacy OAU, gain exposure to drug & natural products research, participate in environmental advocacy work, and grow in ways I honestly didn’t expect
These are people who know so much, but will still sit with you, explain things properly, answer your questions, guide you, and genuinely want you to learn.
Because we hear so many stories about toxic workplaces and difficult bosses, experiences like this stand out even more.
Over the next few days, I’ll be sharing more about:
• my research experience
• advocacy work
• lessons from service year
• opportunities I was exposed to
• and where I hope to go from here.
Happy POP to me 🥰☺️

🇳🇬 EXPOSED: Nigerian Defence Minister Bello Matawalle Accused of Offering Bribe to US Official to “Change Narrative” of UN-WCD Christian Genocide Report
US lawmaker Kimberly Daniels has accused Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, of attempting to bribe a United States official to change the narrative of a report on killings of Christians in Nigeria.
In a viral video, she said:
“A US elected official was offered money by Nigeria’s minister of state defense, Bello Matawalle, to change the narrative of the UN WCD Christian genocide in Nigeria report.
We will not be silenced. We will not be intimidated. The truth about what is happening to Christians in Nigeria must be told.
The killings, the attacks, the destruction of communities this is not random. It is targeted, and the world needs to pay attention.
We are calling for accountability at the highest levels. Leadership must be reviewed, and those responsible must be held accountable.
Nigeria cannot continue like this while innocent people are being slaughtered, and the international community cannot look away.”
Her statement is linked to a security assessment by the United World Congress of Diplomats, which criticised Nigeria’s handling of insecurity in Plateau, Benue, Kaduna and Nasarawa, describing a pattern of coordinated attacks on Christian communities.
The report also raised concerns about Matawalle’s role and called on President Bola Tinubu to review leadership in the Defence Ministry, including the possible removal or redeployment of the minister.
I graduated with a 2:2.
Two years ago, I stopped overthinking and got to work. No mentor, no connections. Just broke and hungry. I taught myself, got into tech, and made over $15k in my first year.
Today, I’m building a startup, @Aikidotcom,with over 1000+ on the wait-list, helping Africans like me earn so much money for free, no matter where they start from.
And here’s the part people don’t expect. I’ve earned scholarships and secured admissions to study abroad multiple times.
That result you’re ashamed of? It doesn’t define you. What you do after it does.

Let’s talk about “Jedi Jedi” (piles/hemorrhoids) 👇
There are so many myths around this condition that a lot of people believe it’s something spiritual or mysterious.
The Drug Research and Production Unit is based in the Faculty of Pharmacy at Obafemi Awolowo University and is dedicated to researching medicinal plants and transforming them into safe, effective herbal formulations.
But the work goes beyond research.
