@jenlouden@Sue_Mitchell@JaneFriedman Haha. Fun thread. Your Why Bother stories are great. Big 5 editors DO want voice-driven how-to/self-help. However, the execution can vary from brilliant (the opening of Atomic Habits) to faux "authentic" and everything in between.
@jenlouden@JaneFriedman I agree with @janefriedman. Not new. However, self-help HAS become much more voice- and story-driven. In terms of online buzz, people sometimes ask for guidance writing their "hero story." It can be helpful to think of "life lessons" to give a memoir shape and turning points.
This sociological breakdown by @tylercowen is incredible. He's a master at this. And honestly, it's better than any longform that could have been written on the matter.

@GoldieChan We just started Ozark. A good amount of creepiness, danger, and family isolation for these times. Caught up with Homeland and now it's old-fashioned appointment TV on Sunday evenings for the final episodes.
@fortelabs Fun thread. The term "maker" has become an indy shorthand but it also feels insider-y to me. People in organizations don't think of themselves as "makers." Is there something with content (another very un-pretty word)? To be continued...
