Saying the name of a child who has died can be very important to bereaved parents. A lovely way to include the child’s name might be to add that you always remember them in a card or message you send to the family.
When a grandchild dies, grandparents feel intense sadness. Others can overlook their grief as they understandably focus on the bereaved parents.
If you know a bereaved grandparent, try to keep in touch, send a card or simply say how sorry you are.
Our animation ‘Puddle Jumping’ aims to help adults understand how grieving children can seem to move in and out of their grief, a bit like they’re jumping in and out of a puddle. 💦
Puddle jumping is normal and means a child is learning to cope with their grief.
