🇨🇦 At Buckingham Palace, The King has received the Usher of the Black Rod of the Senate of Canada and bestowed upon him a new ceremonial sword.
The position of Usher of the Black Rod, which originated approximately 600 years ago, is a senior protocol officer in the Canadian Parliament. Their current responsibilities combine traditional, ceremonial and modern administrative functions.
Mr Gregory Peters is the 17th Usher of the Black Rod since Confederation. The Speaker of the Senate of Canada, Ms Raymonde Gagné was also present.
I join in mourning the passing of the Honourable Murray Sinclair and celebrating his incredible legacy of leadership on reconciliation, justice and healing. May his spirit live on and inspire us to continue his life’s work. Condolences to his family and friends.
The Honourable Murray Sinclair opened Canada’s eyes to the reality of injustice against Indigenous peoples. He was a beacon of truth, justice and hope, showing us that education is our most powerful tool in building trust and a better future for all.

.@JaniceCharette: "Too many good people who have put up their hand to make a difference to bring their experience and their knowledge to advance the public good have been subjected to attacks on their integrity and threats to themselves and to their families. This cannot continue. Let us take inspiration from the words of Theodore Roosevelt. It is not the critic who counts. We need to celebrate those that are actually in the arena, who do actually strive to do the deeds that spend themselves in a worthy cause."

That’s a wrap!! Retiring from a career in public service & a job I loved. Looking forward to time to relax, recharge & contemplate new adventures. Thanks to my wonderful family, friends & all the public servants that I met along my amazing journey. I had the time of my life!! 🇨🇦
Delighted to reconnect on home turf with @MarkRegev after a looong hiatus. As ever, we had a scintillating discussion on #Cyprus#Israel & our region. We reminisced about colleagues & our vibrant diplomatic life in London. Never a dull moment. And that’s probably a dull way of describing it! 🇨🇾🤝🇮🇱
