In 1965 a British pseudo documentary was made about an attack on the UK and its aftermath. It was called The Wargame and the BBC banned it for 20 years deeming it to be “too horrifying”.
Starting Monday next week Sky will broadcast Wargame, the new TV version of its thought-prevoking podcast. I took part in it and think people will be similarly shocked as the censors in 1965 were by what they will see.
I believe in @NATO, our partnership with the US, our nuclear deterrent, and their ability to deter the worst acts of aggression, but it is clear we are facing new levels of hostile activity and threats.
I have long warned about compliancy, gaps in our capabilities and poor resilience (small selection of coverage below). This is not just about what we spend but how we do and our outdated approach to risk.
I believe not every scenario shown next week will come to pass but the gaps in our capabilities and lack of resilience will be inescapable to anyone watching.
This will not be news to our enemies. But it may be news to you and probably your MP too.
As the Government prepares its ‘warbook’ to tell households what to do in wake of disaster, the future is not yet written. A month on we will have the budget. Copious asks from industry await action. Our allies want us to match their determination to rebuild. We need to act now. The material price of war is ten-fold the cost of preventing one. The human price, much greater.
Please Britain, wake up.

Reform Wales leader Dan Thomas MS has stepped down from his position after being arrested by the police. Mr Thomas was arrested on Sunday 13 September on suspicion of assault and engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour. Police confirmed he has been "bailed pending further enquiries.” In a statement, the Senedd Member said he was "reported to the police" and later released without charge, stressing that he had "done nothing wrong".

The dire state Reform in the Senedd finds itself in should be another warning of what could lie ahead if they were ever entrusted to run the national government.
Dan Thomas MS was hand-picked by Nigel Farage MP to lead his party in Wales, yet within months their leader has had to stand down.
Reform are hitting the news for all the wrong reasons - massive crypto donations, on top of the jailing of Nathan Gill for pro-Russian bribery.
All this raises serious and deep questions about Reform’s judgement and leadership at every level.
If what I’m hearing is true, these are serious allegations.
Reform UK has serious questions to answer about the people it chooses to lead in Wales.
Nathan Gill is currently in prison for 10 years for accepting Russian bribes.
Now their new leader, Dan Thomas, has been arrested for his conduct.
These people are not fit to lead Wales.

@DarrenMillarMS slams the First Minister for ignoring the crisis in Welsh hospitals and schools while plotting the break-up of the United Kingdom.
Wales 🏴 is an integral part of our United Kingdom. The Union is as vital, as it is precious.
Yet today in Cardiff a ‘Separatist Summit’ was held - showing that making the daily lives of the people of Wales better is simply NOT the Plaid priority. Despite what they said to Senedd voters in May.
Hoodwinking the electorate by disguising that their true aim was taking a wrecking ball to the United Kingdom 🇬🇧
Plaid must get on with the
day job and make their objective growing the Welsh economy, cutting NHS waiting lists, improving Welsh school standards and working to deliver their missing childcare offer.
Our @Conservatives party will
always work to protect our Country.

She was 8 years old.
Her name was Zoe Falkenberg, and on the morning of September 11, 2001, she climbed aboard American Airlines Flight 77 with her mom, dad, and 3-year-old little sister, Dana.
To Zoe, this wasn’t a flight that would become part of American history. It was the beginning of an adventure.
Her family was going to Australia for two months while her mother, Leslie Whittington, completed a fellowship at Australian National University. Her father, Charles Falkenberg, had taken leave from work so all four of them could experience it together. They had talked about seeing kangaroos and koalas and exploring a place on the other side of the world. (ABC News)
Zoe sat between her dad and her little sister. Her mom was across the aisle.
She was tiny for her age, but one of the brightest kids in her class. She loved Girl Scouts, ballet, swimming, and performing. More than anything, she loved books. Harry Potter was a favorite. At home, reading was a family ritual. Her parents would curl up on the couch with Zoe and Dana every night, then after Dana went to bed, Zoe got to stay up for the longer stories. Sometimes Harry Potter. Sometimes Tolkien. (Naval History and Heritage Command)
And Zoe already had plans for when she came home.
She and her best friend Katie were going to have a Beanie Babies birthday party together. That detail gets me.
Because children don’t think about whether they’ll make it home from a family vacation. They think about stuffed animals and birthday parties and books they haven’t finished yet.
Just before the family boarded their flight, they mailed postcards to relatives from Dulles Airport. Those postcards began arriving after September 11.
Little messages from a family excited about the adventure ahead of them.
Messages that essentially said, “We love you.” Zoe never got Australia. She never got her Beanie Babies party. Dana never got to grow up beside her big sister. Their parents never got to watch either of their daughters become women.
At 9:37 a.m., American Airlines Flight 77 struck the Pentagon. Zoe, Dana, Leslie, and Charles died together. Dana, only 3, was the youngest person aboard the plane.
Twenty-five years later, I don’t want Zoe remembered simply as one of the passengers on Flight 77.
Her name was Zoe Falkenberg. She was 8.
She loved Harry Potter. She had a birthday party waiting for her when she got home.
And she should have had an entire lifetime after it.
