On April 2, ahead of the Qingming Festival, Ambassador Qi Zhenhong led young diplomats from @ChinaEmbSL to Colombo’s General Cemetery to lay flowers in remembrance of Comrade Chen Yimei, a pioneering Chinese diplomat who rests in Sri Lanka.

One of the first female diplomats of the PRC, Chen served in Sri Lanka twice between the 1950s–70s, building enduring ties, including a close friendship with Prime Minister Sirimavo Bandaranaike and contributing significantly to China–Sri Lanka relations.

She passed away in Colombo in 1974 at the age of 46 while on diplomatic duty. Her legacy continues to inspire 🇨🇳🇱🇰 friendship.
