I'm *really* tight about this newest Suns deal but I'm also going to give props to the Phoenix front office for showing loyalty / love to [most of] the hoopers who should've been rewarded for their efforts.
Deal amounts don't matter. Seeing a club reward their players = GREAT
Suns brought back Mark Williams, Collin Gillespie, and Jordan Goodwin for combined $105M — $31M combined annually for the next 3 seasons.
Great job retaining key free agents at a bargain. The culture has changed
The pessimistic view right now is PHX are running it back with the same roster & more expensive. And I'd *mostly* agree.
If you want to take an optimistic view that isn't just complete toxic positivity, I can definitely make a case for...
Brunson/Bridges/OG Knicks
Giannis/Holiday/Middleton Bucks
Tatum/Brown Celtics
Curry/Thompson/Draymond Warriors
Jokic/Gordon/Murray Nuggets
Rome wasn’t built in a day
Neither are NBA champions.
Continuity is what matters.
Say it with me.
These Things Take Time.

A couple of things here. The Mark Williams three-year contract is very tradeable especially if he plays well. He will start and when Maluach is ready whenever that may be Mark can either be a backup or be traded. Second, I understand many fans wanted a big move not to run it back with a team that got swept in the first-round by OKC. What I would say is that they are going to rely on a second year of Jordan Ott and his system, health of Jalen Green and Grayson Allen, development of Fleming and Maluach and just continuity of playing together with the same guys to improve on last season - how much? Not sure but I would think their goal is to get into a top 6 seed and improve on last years win total.
Some of y’all want the Suns to pass up getting players at below market contracts because you’re afraid of running back what could be a great building block season.
I want them to address their flaws too, but you don’t pass on any of contracts their FA’s have agreed to
The Suns will be paying only $28.3 million combined next season for three key rotation pieces they re-signed:
Mark Williams: $11.7 million
Collin Gillespie: $10.7 million
Jordan Goodwin: $5.9 million
Good business from Phoenix.
Suns not even close to the second apron after signingt Mark Williams for those concerned. About $7.5 under it as of now. They will NOT go into the second apron.
Restricted free agent Mark Williams intends to sign a three-year, $38 million contract to return to the Phoenix Suns, sources tell ESPN. The deal is fully guaranteed for Williams, who averaged 11 points, 8 rebounds and 1 block in 23.6 minutes per game as the Suns starting center.
The Suns lock in the last of their own priority free agents, finishing negotiations with Williams' Excel Sports Management agents Jeff Schwartz and Jordan Gertler on Thursday night. First young guards Collin Gillespie and Jordan Goodwin over the weekend, now Williams.
🚨 BREAKING: Mark Willians is reported to be BACK for the Suns, on a 3yr/$38M contract.
The Suns continue on, keeping their new core intact for the 2026-27 season 🙌.
