At a meeting with senior students, Slovakia’s prime minister claimed that the EU is supposedly preparing €140 billion “to continue the war.” When the teens tried to correct him, he lost his temper and told them to go… to the front lines.

“If you’re such heroes in your black T-shirts and so strongly for this war, then go there,” Fico said. At that moment, the students were already getting up and leaving the room. One of them walked out holding a Ukrainian flag.

When the students defended the need to aid Ukraine's existential defence, Fico told them they should "go fight there" instead.

Prague seems to be bucking the trend of euro capitals descending into third world chaos. Zoomed out, it looks like a fairy tale land with Baroque spires and castles.

Zoomed in, you don’t see the telltale signs of the globohomo malaise plaguing other cities such as Paris or London. The streets are spotless and well-maintained; there aren’t any ethnic ghettos.

An MP told me today that woke somehow didn’t make it here even though people are very secular and very committed to the European project.

My running theory is that this is because the Czechs have nothing to be guilty about: they didn’t colonize anything, they weren’t an imperial power, and in fact they spent four decades mired in communist hell, after which they enjoyed the rare distinction of being the only example of peaceful Revolution in the history of our species, resulting in the cleavage into the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

So there’s really nothing for wokeness to exploit. It’s nice to see a European city without a shred of self-loathing, unafraid to assert itself in matters of law and order and immigration.
