Unthinkable, unbelievable! Tonight, 450 years ago, Tycho Brahe looked at the sky and saw a bright new star. The heavens were eternal and unchangeable. A supernova changed this on November 11th 1572. Tycho published his findings in May 1573 in De nova stella #histAstro#HistSci
Swedish Count Koenigsmarck on 26 September 1687 gave the order to bomb the Parthenon temple which was used was used as a gunpowder store during the Morean War, as my Swedish friend Olov Amelin told me.
The temple had stood three thousand years. Svensk jävla!

An Ancient Greek mystery: The Antikythera mechanism from 2nd century BC capable of predicting astronomical positions, eclipses+++. Amazing. Nothing remotely this advanced was seen for the next 1400 years. I saw it 20 years ago and today. Excited!!

Last week, an #excursion to #Sorø took place in the context of the "Objects of Understanding" #conference. We set off by bus in the morning in sunny weather. The participants then spent the day in "Hauchs #Physiske Cabinet", among other places.
