Documentation for @janus_cards is live. Can be accessed on landing page or in dropdown in app.
Explains the workflow, features and integrations currently available. Will get updated as new releases go live.
Thank you @mintlify for creating such a low-friction, quality defaults product.
Here's how to go from online lecture -> flashcard with @janus_cards
- Watch the online university lecture on youtube (such as an episode of MIT Courseware series on Introduction to Algorithms)
- Create a Janus notebook from the youtube video. The video will then be transcribed for you.
- Then give instructions to Janus in the Generate tab about what details you want to remember from this lecture. It will highlight these and generate flashcards, ready for you to review and save in your decks
New highlighter features for @janus_cards
- You can now see proposed highlights in the document reader as soon as they get created
- Can also click on them and will bring you to the Generate tab on the right.
- New Color Codes:
- Yellow = Saved highlight with no cards,
- Green = Saved highlight with cards,
- Blue with stripes = Proposed Highlight, not yet saved
There is now a better way to edit all cards in a single highlight in @janus_cards
Once cards exist in a highlight, the generate button turns into a "Generate More" and "Improve" button.
- Generate More: Additional cards will be created that try to cover material that is in that highlight but not in the cards that already exist, as we always try to avoid duplicates
- Improve: The existing cards in the highlight will be modified based on your prompt and on the best practices, with your prompt taking priority.
Even though @janus_cards tries to create great flashcards first time, using AI introduces unpredictability that can cause cards to have stylistic or organizational flaws. The issue might be quite obvious, like needing to split a card that combines two facts into two separate atomic cards.
"Refinements" are narrow prompts you can run on a card to correct and improve them. By clicking the 🪄 icon on a card, a dropdown of your refinements will appear, and selecting one will trigger the AI to improve it.
For those who wish to memorize the formulae, proofs and derivations from maths textbooks and research papers:
You can now manually highlight math blocks in @janus_cards
