As we collectively unveiled the statue of five-time Chief Minister Sardar Parkash Singh Ji Badal and a 70-foot-tall Akali flag amidst thunderous slogans of “Sardar Parkash Singh Badal Amar Rahe” raised by his followers and Shiromani Akali Dal workers, I was spellbound by the deep chord Badal Sahab had struck in every heart.
A true people’s man, who carried the spirit of Punjabiyat in his heart and gave paramount importance to peace and communal harmony, Badal Sahab will forever be remembered for taking everyone along, and for doing the utmost for the Kisan and the poor.
While the installation of Badal Sahab’s statue and the party flag (on his 98th birth anniversary) is a moment of immense pride for the entire Shiromani Akali Dal family, we will build on this legacy by establishing a museum dedicated to his life and achievements at the same site in Badal village.
