Int’l #HumanRights lawyer; past clients Liu Xiaobo, Vaclav Havel, Desmond Tutu & Elie Wiesel; dubbed “The Extractor” by @nytimes for political prisoner work.
I’m so very grateful to @MelissaMahtani for this brilliant profile of me in @guardian - “The Man Who Performs Miracles: How ‘The Extractor’ Works to Free Political Prisoners” - She really captures the essence of this work and why it means so much to me. https://t.co/mFmgqkEIWe
#Cambodia: I stand with my friend, Theary Seng, a US-Cambodian human rights activist and lawyer, on the fourth anniversary of her detention. Theary is a stalwart defender of human rights in Cambodia but has been arbitrarily detained on a six-year sentence since 2022 for a baseless conviction related to pro-democracy Facebook posts. She should never have spent a single day in prison. I call for her immediate and unconditional release.
I am delighted to announce the publishing of my new book, The Oxford Handbook on the UN #HumanRights System, co-edited with former UN High Commissioner Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein. https://t.co/CP580f4Jnj. Running some 1,300 pages with eight sections, 43 chapters, and 67 authors, the book is the first comprehensive and compelling practical account of the human rights work carried out by the UN and how the system can be reformed. @ipinst@UN@UN_SPExperts@UNHumanRights@UN_HRC@OxUniPress
We shouldn't forget that as the Pakistani government cleanses its image by serving as a mediator for the Iran war, Pakistan remains a military-dominated government that is imprisoning the country's most popular politician, former prime minister Imran Khan. https://t.co/YkaXmk1SFU
I understand @ImranKhanPTI son's frustration. While Pakistani government's efforts at facilitating negotiations to end the war between #USA/#Israel and #Iran is commendable, we should not forget its terrible and unjust treatment of @ImranKhanPTI, his family and his supporters.#Pakistan

Sons of Imran Khan, Sulaiman and Kasim Khan, have taken their father's justice fight to the UN. In a strong appeal to the international community, they highlighted grave human rights violations and reported physical mistreatment in arbitrary detention.
The world cannot stay silent as a global leader and voice of millions faces such injustice. They demand an immediate end to the isolation and mistreatment of the world's most popular leader.

Let me be crystal clear. I condemn every abuse of human rights by the Government of Israel, Hamas, and the Government of Pakistan - and call for justice and accountability for all victims and for all perpetrators to be held accountable with no exceptions, period. That is the only defensible position as a human rights lawyer to take and could not be any less controversial.
As for the video, what I said is a fact and not an opinion. Hamas is proud to advocate genocide against all Jews around the world and advocate for that publicly. I guess you never read the Hamas Charter: https://t.co/nuBpGXJR6n. It says “The Day of Judgement will not come about until Moslems fight the Jews (killing the Jews).” The mass killing of members of a religion is genocide. If the Hamas Charter said “until Moslems fight the Christians (killing the Christians)” then I would have said Hamas was calling for genocide against all Christians. If it had said “until Moslems fight all the other Moslems (killing the Moslems)” then I would have said Hamas was calling for genocide against all Muslims but themselves. The Genocide Convention makes clear that killing any “national, ethnical, racial or religious group” constitutes genocide. I oppose the mass murder of all protected groups with no exceptions.
As you seem to support the killing of every Jew in the world wherever they might live like Hamas then by all means this is your opportunity: Stand up like Hamas RIGHT NOW and say so publicly and proudly right here on this feed. And don’t be shy - call on all Pakistans and your Government here to kill every Jew in the world. Otherwise you are all talk and no action. Don’t be a coward. Stand up for what you believe and defend it. I just did.
Today, I had the honour of speaking to the 47 countries that comprise the @UN#HumanRightsCouncil urging the immediate release of my father @imrankhanpti and all #Pakistan’s #politicalprisoners. Along with this, I want to be very clear. Like my father, I fully support maintaining GSP+ as the people of #Pakistan should never be punished for the actions of its leaders. But the Pakistani regime must also fully comply with the 27 treaties it committed to follow to obtain this benefit, including the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and Convention Against Torture. @UN@ptiofficial #HumanRights #ImranKhanUnlawfullyDetained
I am SO proud of @liliantintori, the wife of @leopoldolopez of #Venezuela and @bertavalle, the wife of Felix @Maradiaga of #Nicaragua who today with @WLCongress & @NEDemocracy launched two new books: “Pathway to Freedom: Handbook for the Liberation of #PoliticalPrisoners” and “After Liberation: Handbook for the Reintegration of Political Prisoners.” https://t.co/fvvImrIXee - I worked over many years with these courageous women to secure their husbands’ release from prison. And it is amazing to see how they have taken their lived experiences and, working with others, created these extraordinary resources for political prisoners and their families.
We would like to thank Brandon Silver of @TheRWCHR for mentioning Imran Khan’s name as a political prisoner, during his speech at Geneva Summit for Human Rights and Democracy.
Thanks to patriotic overseas Pakistani Dr. Sabreena for highlighting Imran Khan’s name during the speech.
