In chasing ideals w/zeal and/or imaging out loud, etc., pastors may in fact trade one set of problems for another. I’ve learned this over 40 years of FT ministry… The hard way;-) Better in many instances to apply “kaizen” to what already exists.

I remember as a young pastor working through and maturing in my role. One of the hardest things in the process was people making my growth areas a deal breaker for staying at the church. It wasn’t an issue of disqualification but maturation (1Tim4:15). One think I’ve learned over the years is that learning how to be a member of a church community must be taught and caught. Thankful for those in the church that stayed and was patient with my growth to better pastor and lead them. I’m still growing btw
