Work? Taxed to oblivion
Sell? Taxed to oblivion
Buy? Taxed to oblivion
Die? Taxed to oblivion
And now… save? Taxed to oblivion
There is no point doing the right thing any more in the UK.
Honestly, I’m sick and tired of grown adults calling the climate crisis a hoax. It’s not even a debate, the science has been settled for decades. Your ignorance is not just embarrassing, it is actively destroying the planet and every living thing on it.
“MPs shouldn’t be drinking on the job.”
At Prime Minister’s Questions, Green MP Hannah Spencer asked Keir Starmer whether he thinks MPs should be entitled to cheap alcohol in Westminster.
Spencer made headlines some weeks ago when she told Politics Joe that “you can smell the alcohol when people are in between votes”.
Defending her position, Spencer told the Guardian: “I don’t think it’s much to ask for an MP to be sober when they vote on decisions that affect everyone else.”
Since @Ofcom seems to have given up, we asked 20 experienced journalist from a wide range of backgrounds to watch multiple hours of @GBNEWS . Their conclusion: the supposedly regulated channel has, in effect, become Reform TV. How did it happen? https://t.co/LeWNX79g1y
I'm a vicar in a small rural village. I could never say this to my flock because of the outcry, but Reform are blatantly opposed to genuine Christian values and it's clear that anyone considering voting for them has not been listening to a single word I say each week
Tommy Robinson leaving the UK and Andrew being arrested. All we need now is for Trump to start violently coughing and we have had ourselves an incredible week x
Donald Trump: “Why can’t we have some people from Norway?”
As a Norwegian, here is my answer:
In Norway, we have permanent employment guaranteed by law, collective wage agreements, and strong unions.
In the US, you can lose your job overnight, without any reason.
In Norway, you can be sick without being financially punished.
In the US, getting sick can mean losing both your pay and your job.
In Norway, we have the right to paid holiday, leave, and a secure pension.
And healthcare and education are free.
In the US, much of this is up to your boss—if you are lucky.
And this is not a coincidence.
It is the result of ordinary people standing together, organising, and fighting for these rights.
So no thanks, I am not moving to get worse rights.
I will stay and defend the working life we have built here.
If something is legally required, like car insurance, then the industry should be nationalised. Why should the law force me to make profit for their shareholders rather than taxpayers?
In 1970 the UK and Norway were roughly equal, almost no debt, and owned all their Public Services.
Now the UK owns nothing and has £3tn of debt.
While Norway still owns everything and has the equivalent of £10tn.
That's how privatisation 'works'.
Ambulance workers are worried this festive period.
Over 70% of ambulance workers fear burnout.
And nearly half worry about physical attacks.
This Christmastime - think about the ambulance staff who keep us safe - before you do anything daft 🎄🚑
