My area has a relatively low cost of living so one could live pretty comfortably on a portfolio of $2.5-3MM. That’s assuming a 4% annual withdrawal plus social security (if it still exists) and no debt. Could augment that by selling covered calls. 😁 That said I could understand someone aiming for $5MM if they lived in an area with a higher cost of living.
