🇪🇷ERITREA’s Week Review at the UNGA81
Eritrean delegation led by H.E. Osman Saleh, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated actively in the High-Level Week of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, advancing Eritrea’s diplomatic engagement and positions on regional, continental and global issues.
This morning, 28 September, Minister Osman delivered Eritrea’s national statement at the UNGA81 General Debate, presenting Eritrea’s perspectives on international peace and security, #sovereignty and territorial integrity, the #Horn of #Africa and #Red #Sea region, genuine #multilateralism, development and other issues of international concern.
Throughout the week, the delegation participated in high-level #UN meetings and interventions, including the 40th Anniversary of the Declaration on the Right to Development, the High-Level Meeting on Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response, the plenary on sea-level rise, and the 50th Annual Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the G77 and China. Eritrea emphasized sovereign equality, self-reliance, equitable development, South-South cooperation and a more representative multilateral system.
The delegation also held a series of bilateral and high-level meetings with UN officials and senior government representatives, including UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, the Foreign Ministers of #Algeria, #Burkina Faso, #Egypt, #Sudan, #Sweden, #Oman, #Singapore, #Andorra and #Greece, as well as UN Under-Secretary-General Rosemary DiCarlo, #European #Union special representative and #UK National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell.
Ambassador Sophia Tesfamariam, in her capacity as one of the 21 Vice-Presidents of UNGA81, presided over a plenary session during the general debate.
Discussions covered bilateral relations, regional peace and security, the Horn of Africa, Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, and issues of mutual interest.
Eritrea also contributed to other high-level side events, including the launch of the State of Africa’s Children 2026 report.
The week-long participation reflected Eritrea’s continued active, principled and substantive engagement at the United Nations, combining the national statement, multilateral interventions, bilateral diplomacy and participation in key international forums while advancing Eritrea’s national and regional priorities.

Eritrean Army!!
Thank you for your unwavering service to 🇪🇷. Your strength, discipline & sacrifice are the backbone of our sovereignty. In silence or in struggle, your loyalty speaks louder than words. #Eritrea
@michelawrong Wrong, just like your name. Eritreans in the diaspora bear the flag of #Eritrea, NOT the extinct blue flag imposed by colonisers. Whatever their views on Eritrea's rule, no national steps on their country flag! They're confirming their true roots - #Tigray
They stoned ppl, destroyed tents & were photographed trampling on 🇪🇷 flag? Are you really calling them 🇪🇷s even though they’ve stepped on 🇪🇷? Do you think their struggle is against Isaias or Eri? & as you describe them, Do you really think these thugs can bring justice or change?
I was mesmerized by the furniture I saw in the restaurant because they had a story to tell!!And the food was delicious @rodigualEri ..lol..U need to come soon..I promise its my treat..lol
