Hey @LilSnackDaily where do you think the band Iron Maiden got the name from? I'd call it a pretty scary place... AI isn't ready to take over just yet.
@LilSnackDaily any proof that Goliath isn't mythical?
According to Google AI -
"There is no definitive archaeological proof of an individual giant named Goliath existing". I'm taking my win for this one.
@DazWilko1984@HastingsDirect Did you expect more than a dull resolution?
Although DMC has given me additional avenues to consider. The story might not be finished.
@HastingsDirect two questions...
1. Do you take payment for new or renewal of car insurance policies by cheque?
2. Does the Consumer Rights Act 2015 not apply to car insurance companies?
I've been sent a cheque, but paid by card.
Any advice @CitizensAdvice@MartinSLewis
@HastingsDirect All I wanted was an honest and reasonable explanation. This is both of them so thank you.
I'm, hopefully reasonably, still not completely happy about how this situation occurred in the first instance but I consider this response as closure.
@HastingsDirect My question is can I take out a policy and pay by cheque?
(I understand you guys are in an untenable position but unfortunately I don't have the contact details of the directors or owners of the company, so you are responsible as the voice of @HastingsDirect )
@HastingsDirect This is obviously a policy that @HastingsDirect utilise to attempt to extort money from their customers. It appears to be against the relevant Act set by the government.
HD refunded 90% of the money to my payment card.
I'm happy to keep this public to warn others.
@HastingsDirect No I would just like to know why Hastings Direct believe that a cheque is a justifiable means of reimbursement in 2025, especially s payment was made by card and, according to very quick research, this is not in line with the Consumer Rights Act.
@dbboy29@MichaelSnasdell@HastingsDirect@MartinSLewis So although they are more than happy to take my money by card immediately i have to wait for a CHEQUE to be posted for the outstanding £20. I've just checked my calendar and I'm sure we're not in 1986 anymore!!!
