Being neurodivergent is realizing not everyone spends half their day negotiating with their own brain. Apparently some people just decide to do things and then do them.
Suspicious.
I wish having ADHD was just “oopsy, I forgot where I put my keys”, and not “a totally normal day that turns into random depression, and staring at the same spot on the wall for an hour in a state of paralysis”.
ADHD’s worst symptom isn’t distraction, it’s paralysis. Knowing exactly what to do, being fully aware, and still sitting there watching yourself not do it. That silent shame is the part nobody talks about.
Neurotypicals: Friday feels like a reward.
ADHDers: Friday feels like I survived 5 days of pretending and I have 48 hours to recover before I have to pretend again on Monday.
Neurotypicals: Just start the task.
ADHDers: Okay but first I need the right playlist, a snack, emotional stability, and 45 minutes to mentally prepare.
