No hyperbole here: We are all teetering. No one is exempt. If we lose our city’s best restaurants (as we did with beloved @Blackbird_Chi this week), it erodes our attraction as a world class city. If we lose our neighborhood restaurants, it erodes the very fabric of our lives.
Lula C will be open for curbside pick up starting Thursday 5/28. On Monday you’ll be able to pre-order brunch and dinner packages as well as wine and beer via Tock. We’ll be serving some classics and some beautiful… https://t.co/XWaFrAnKYp
@davidchang Not enough people are taking about the price of food. Looking at the pricing on offerings by standard-bearers in the industry, for the to go model, that is, it seems like pricing models are maintaining a dangerous status quo.
According to a new survey from @beardfoundation, 4 out of 5 restaurant owners remain uncertain they can reopen once the pandemic passes. If it wasn’t clear before, it is certainly clear now: PPP DOES NOT WORK for independent restaurants. #SaveRestaurants https://t.co/JjoSpFX0A5
@SenatorDurbin If we don’t fix the CARES act and pass additional funding to help independent restaurants farmers will have no one to sell food to. The PPP doesn’t work for restaurants forced closed by COVID. Our supply chain won’t be reconnected and our employees won’t go back to work.
"Chicago immigrants who do not have legal status in the U.S. are eligible for all relief programs run by the city amid the coronavirus outbreak, Mayor Lori Lightfoot ordered Tuesday." Your move, D.C. https://t.co/ZSxCPM7gAH
.@realDonaldTrump@POTUS Please have a conversation with @tomcolicchio about the way to help the resturant industry.Nobody has work harder than him, understands bills, congress mechanics and how we can really be investing into solutions. #ChefsForAmerica
America's response to the coronavirus is the worst in the world, which is shocking and has a lot to do with a leader who is completely unfit, temperamentally and intellectually, for the job 1/
Thank you everyone for your incredible messages of support and encouragement.♥️
Many of you asked what it was like in the ER right now. I want to share a bit with you. Please RT:
A Day in the Life of an ER Doc - A Brief Dispatch from the #COVID19 Frontline:
Restaurants are biggest 🇺🇸 employer after govt. 15m workers + farmers, suppliers, delivery drivers. Congress and WH must keep the industry functioning to feed first responders, hospitals, elderly, &vulnerable. Thx for your leadership @tomcolicchio@IndpRestaurants@ChrisVanHollen
I just paid February’s sales and meals tax, and I have $0.66 left in our restaurant account. I’ll be using money my family has been squirreling away for my daughters college fund to restart things. Wondering if that makes me a monster. Tax deferment could have been something.
@pete_wells They can come and get it if they want but I won’t pay anyone that demands I shut down with zero plan of action.
The restaurant community will only survive this if we do things differently. I will not conform to rules that at this point make ZERO SENSE.
Nationally and locally there are funds being created to assist employees and now political action groups being mobilized to ensure representation for a stimulus bill.
Can a media outlet organize all the efforts so we don’t create overlap. We need solidarity more than ever ✊🏼
