New paper with @danmeuse for SHVS on how states might think about health policy in light of the American Rescue Plan’s broad-based premium tax credit expansion, which is effective in 2021 and 2022.

@311DCgov recycling pickup on Monday missed my whole block (6900 block of 5th St. NW). I submitted service request # 25-00657278 that afternoon. It says is will be resolved by two days ago, but they haven't come. Bins still out by street. @Janeese4DC https://t.co/k61XH79pAR
There's a clear error in the @turbotax@TeamTurboTax Q&A on HSAs and HDHPs. Many complaints on the support page going back years. Still broken. In short, it says you have a gap in HDHP coverage when you don't. Can bypass by answering incorrectly. But not sure why TT doesn't fix.
Important story from @NancyCordes on IRS layoffs. A few additions: Last year IRS sent over 120 million refunds. There is a major risk Americans’ refunds could be late or wrong when you indiscriminately fire thousands of employees in the middle of the filing season. 1/5
@LGUS Got it. Seems like this ship has sailed for me, but maybe you could hire more technicians so it doesn't take 11 days for the next customer whose fridge breaks under warranty.
Anyway, thanks for responding.
Hey @LGUS@LGUSSupport, we called you last Thursday bc our 4-year-old fridge died. You said it's under warranty 🥳. But you can't send someone to fix it til next Monday 😳. 11 days is a long time to cool the old-fashioned way. Can you help?
@LGUS Hi again @LGUS. Here's the response I got back from DMing you--no help at all. I'm not sure what you mean by "that department." Is there someone I could talk to about getting help sooner, or is there just no one available until next Monday?
Good advice⬇️. And there's a 2nd rule to be aware of: being eligible for COBRA never blocks former employees from getting Obamacare financial assistance. So if you lose a job, go to the Marketplace first and check your options.
To: Tech workers getting laid off. I'm sorry.
COBRA may be a good option for health insurance.
But, it's worth looking at Obamacare, too. It may be less expensive, especially if you're younger.
And, it's not always easy to switch from COBRA later.

How can states support continuity of coverage once Medicaid redeterminations resume? @jasonlevitis and I share ideas for @RWJF State Health & Value Strategies project: https://t.co/LIy3Bed1YJ
This could also be a great gig for my friends in #HealthTwitter. OTA also does some of the most consequential health policy modeling, like for 1332 waivers. And they have data that no one else does, like 1095s and 1040-reported income.
Schumer on timing of Inflation Reduction Act: "The Senate is on track to begin consideration of the bill tomorrow."
He says parliamentarian is "working through the day" to make sure the bill is ready for the floor Saturday.
The end of the public health emergency will bring not only major disruptions in Medicaid coverage, but major disruptions in access to services. @jasonlevitis and I on policies states can adopt to ease care transitions. https://t.co/IBv0Otg6H6 @GtownCHIR@urbaninstitute
@rachel_roubein True, but that would play differently with Rs in control of the House and plainly blocking extension, which is probably how we'd get there (if we do).
The policy and research team at the Massachusetts @HealthConnector is hiring—two great opportunities with a fantastic crew!

Tick tock...if Congress delays much longer on ACA premium tax credits, the benefits of enacting an extension will largely be lost. @jasonlevitis and I in @Health_Affairs. https://t.co/hDibWQHYne @GtownCHIR@urbaninstitute
Congress needs to act now to extend the American Rescue Plan’s health insurance subsidies or many consumers will see unaffordable premium increases and drop coverage. More from @SabrinaCorlette and @jasonlevitis in @Health_Affairs https://t.co/i0NxWIv9LH
Meanwhile, the clock on getting this done is VERY much ticking, as @SabrinaCorlette & @jasonlevitis wrote about in @Health_Affairs yesterday. Every day #ARP subsidies AREN'T extended means more confusion & more people losing coverage/seeing rate hikes: 14/

Think Congress has plenty of time to stop massive premium hikes for 2023? Think again. @jasonlevitis@urbaninstitute and I in @Health_Affairs on why time is of the essence for Congress to extend the American Rescue Plan premium tax credits. https://t.co/kmuWw2XhYT @GtownCHIR
