@Catholicizm1 I know these kinda of posts are helpful for clicks, but a little humility may be helpful. Let us disagree. Let us be passionate in it. But Lord help us be known by love and not arrogance.
@Brennan55777@gavinortlund Well ok.
If only THOSE were the only 3 possibilities for error.
If only Catholic popes and official doctrine had NEVER erred!
I’m not saying Protestants are better than Catholics (at least specifically now)…
I’m saying … just read Gavin’s last paragraph…
@Brennan55777@gavinortlund Listing three things Protestants are wrestling with… I agree with you, it can be hard to watch. I also think Catholics are not not more unified behind the right position. It’s just all or nothing behind the Pope. What happens when he flips?
And we are back at the rub…
@Brennan55777@gavinortlund 1- I already granted Protestants have issues. Whataboutism …
2- Catholic official doctrine (then or now) has never strayed into error? That’s gonna be a tough pull.
I love my Catholic brethren. An actual dialogue would be cool.
@JeffreyTanCG@gavinortlund This is a great response. Thanks! Do you think his position is prideful? He called for listening and engaging… conversation and changing one’s mind.
How do you handle obvious corruption in Catholic leadership around the reformation? Your response should include these issues.
@WonderWomaNinja This is definitely NOT self-worship.
It’s a blessing. beautiful. scriptural.
Repetition is common in the Psalms and art.
This is overly critical. Try a gracious re-listening of the song asking what value it may be bringing to your fellowship that you’ve missed.
@WonderWomaNinja@WeEndAbuse This is hyper-critical. The song is straight from scripture. Repetition is a device used commonly in scripture. The message of the song is in line with the message of the passage from which it is derived. Emotions are part of worship. Your objections are entirely subjective.
@rmirvinewrites@j_bambrick@krishk Talk about removal of nuance…
@j_bambrick’s response was ridiculous and ungracious .
It isn’t difficult to make the connections he is making. If one disagrees, one should engage the real issues on an honest and respectful level.
@dsantistevan Related topic… the orientation of worship towards the stage vs the altar.
Our goal should be drawing people towards a place of encounter the presence of God, not merely singing along some great songs. This requires time and flexibility.
Love your stuff @dsantistevan
@dsantistevan Hey David. This is such a great post.
I really resonate with what you said about the job description for worship pastors because I think it reveals our expectations for worship. We are over-concerned with a look/style and under-concerned experience, spirituality and integrity.
