Eighty years old, claims a two under par seventy at a course he personally owns and where the tournament committee answers to him, with almost no practice time because he is too busy running the country. He is calling it talent.

Rick Reilly wrote an entire book about exactly this pattern and landed on a specific rating for it. On a scale of one to ten for cheating, he put Trump at an eleven. Last year's version of this same tournament had the White House publishing a scorecard claiming a ten stroke win with a sixty nine. Once the handicaps got worked out, the actual margin was one stroke.

The crowd reaction in the video is the part that gives it away. A little clapping, a few scattered cheers, nothing close to what you would expect for an eighty year old winning a championship on raw talent. For comparison, the one time he played in a tournament he did not own or control, the American Century Championship back in 2006, he shot fifty two over par across three rounds. Ownership appears to sharpen the swing considerably.

As the World Cup comes to an end, I still find it amazing that soccer players got to play on beautiful natural grass in NFL stadiums, only for those fields to be switched back to turf a few months later for the actual NFL season.
