Yesterday I defended my PhD in my #viva about:
-Health beliefs & #asthma in A&E
-Inhaler optimisation
Many thanks to my supervisors @lsteedresearch@DoctorPfeff@ProfCGriffiths & Katy Pike, and my funders @AUKCAR, as well as my examiners for an interesting discussion!
Our amazing Elaine Cole (@TraumaEMC) has just been promoted to full Professor at the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at Queen Mary University of London @QMULBartsTheLon@QMUL .
All delighted here at the Centre for Trauma Sciences @CommsC4TS@TraumaMasters. Congrats Professor!
@DrLKVaughan Given that https://t.co/6iXYsJGwup runs on O365, this seems incredibly wasteful. The register article in your replies suggests that this is just a pause while the tendering happens. Then given the massive costs associated with moving we carry on with MS anyway?
First up: Grace, who is presenting the results of her MRes scoping review into sustainable practices within the ED (watch this space for her dissertation project) (2/4)

@Mause_me@duckdb Thanks! Appreciate your replying. I think I just need to be a little more disciplined about closing my connections. It's a different concept to working with in memory tables.
Seen lot's of good things about @duckdb. I'm struggling to find information about best practices in R. Unclear whether I should close it down at the end of a session? Can databases be maintained between sessions? The tutorials I've seen jump into analysis & miss out housekeeping.

@alwaddington @ldnvrn Feels like it’s necessary to just secure your username on a few alternatives and see where it all settles. There’s a med mastodon server that has a large number of people.
