@NintyPrime I find genuine value/interest in every game revealed. Seriously. Like with this most recent one, the Hello Kitty party game has people scoffing. It shouldn't have been included, they think. But I will probably try to get it. I like party games. I have a young daughter now.
@ParkBarringtonX It's important messaging, and probably even a legal requirement for consumer protection. I just would prefer to see it placed on the back of the box, especially since it's clearly going to be the most common physical delivery approach for Switch 2 games, at least for a bit.
Being completely honest, nothing about game keycards for Switch 2 games bothers me more than the tacky text that gets slapped on the front of the boxes. I don't love keycards, mind you. But that's their feature that I like the least.
@GP050620@NintyPrime I think your timeline is accelerated, but otherwise, what you suggest is possible. I could see a Majora's Mask remake happening, maybe in 2028 or 2029. And a proper new Zelda that continues that story could follow in 2031 or so. They take their time on such things, typically.
@Tonkbomb@Phil1UpCollects It already is, aside from Nintendo and the occasional experiment by third parties. And yes, it will stay that way. Aside from a vocal few, most people don't mind game keycards in the slightest. Keycards allow resale and go on sale for less than straight digital copies, sometimes.
@kyfareek@LucyTheLamia Dragon Quest II, while not as popular as some other games from the era, wasn't remotely close to universally hated. In fact, the original version remains one of my favorite RPGs. I believe I recall reading that Tomonobu Itagaki also considered it a personal favorite.
@Stealth40k I haven't played enough of Twilight Princess to compare them, because every time I try Twilight Princess, the opening makes me lose interest. I know it HAS to get better, based on how many Zelda fans love it, but that first half-hour is... wow. Not good.
@Vokun_@PaulTassi My warranty servicer lost my desktop, so they sent me the money to replace it. I had to spend more to buy a comparable tower a year after I bought my previous prebuilt, as RAM costs are rising. This is toilet paper all over again... except the increased demand for RAM is real.
@EvolveTom This is depressing to think about, because a lot of games might generate $5 or even much less per copy sold, by the time platform fees and such are considered. Even 1,000 copies at $5 each is only $5,000, and most games will cost a whole heck of a lot more to build than $5,000.
@Stealth40k As usual, this Nintendo Direct provided a long list of games I would almost certainly buy, were budget not a concern. There are a few games I'm not sold on, but most of it is right up my alley. Frankly, Nintendo defined my tastes as a gamer. And it continues to cater to them.
@FrozenApes@Stealth40k I appreciated a lot of the freedoms BotW/TotK brought back to the series, after OoT trimmed them due to N64 hardware limitations and established a new formula. A lot of OoT fans did NOT share my appreciation. The remake must find a middle ground, or there will be a lot of anger.
@FrozenApes@Stealth40k I think what you want is the most likely game. Probably a smaller world than BotW/TotK, but still greatly expanded from the tiny little hub OoT originally featured. And no more breakable weapons. More skulltulas to collect, and expanded plot. Stuff like that. I could see it.
@MOTOVRES@Stealth40k For me, Nintendo established the open world genre with The Legend of Zelda on the NES. BotW/TotK brought that design forward, dropping design restrictions the N64 hardware forced OoT to implement. Many OoT fans REALLY miss those restrictions. The remake must keep them in mind.
I'm excited that Velan Studios is the team behind Star Fox for Switch 2, which looks great, because that means Next Level Games is hard at work on something else. C'mon, Punch-Out revival! Or more Luigi's Mansion. Whatever.
@AVGN82@theTwiKing@NintyPrime If they expand the content the right way (which they might, given Monolithsoft's apparent involvement), this could be the next "generational" Zelda hit. I would love that for Ocarina fans... and for me. The limited Hyrule Field has always bugged me a bit.
@NintyPrime If it turns out good enough, maybe all the people who have been making their own Unreal-engine remakes and AI videos will turn their attention to Twilight Princess or Wind Waker. Or maybe they'll view this as a challenge from Nintendo and try harder. Which outcome do you foresee?
@KT_Carlisle Good luck to you. Definitely work the pre-launch social media circuit to give it the best shot at an early surge. I think most Kickstarter projects live or die before they ever go live. You got this!
