To restore salmon and steelhead, we must make immediate investments to remove the lower Snake River Dams while replacing their power generation. (3/14)
"Let me also say this: Union work is a valuable thing to learn. I thought organizing charters could be a finger in the dike of privatization — I didn’t realize that unions could actually reverse privatization. It’s a game-changer." https://t.co/cOSgp0lxIt
Idk why Starbucks is so pressed about us unionizing; you literally give us shirts to wear, a form of company uniform, that says “stand together”. That’s literally what we’re doing??
“It’s not enough to focus on Bowie’s mercurial interest in mysticism and other esoteric practices…In the history of rock, there is likely no truer magician than Bowie, as he has come to personify how magic works.” @peterbebergal, Season Of The Witch (2014)
We defeated the two tier system, won a staffing committee and great wage increases, and even got new racial justice language.
This happened because we were organized, involved the entire community, and were ready to strike.

Kaiser is offering replacement workers astounding dollar amounts to cross the picket line during the strike. Why not just pay their workers a reasonable wage and stop trying to cut the wages of incoming workers? Is forcing a strike really cost effective?

And they have! 37,000 workers authorized strikes at Kaiser! The #1 issue? Staffing! We authorized a strike to fight for patient care and to ensure that frontline healthcare workers get resources we need. This fight belongs to all of us. #PatientDefenders

Our 3,400 workers were joined by over 20,000 others in authorizing strikes at Kaiser. Why would Kaiser push healthcare workers to strike? Why would they offer low wages and terrible staffing proposals during a pandemic?

We have now authorized a strike by 96%!
We are doing this for our patients. We are fighting for #SafeStaffing and the future of healthcare, and we know that Kaiser's offers will be a disaster for patient care. We are #PatientDefenders, and we fight for patients!

Our members are voting on a strike authorization at Kaiser Permanente. If they vote yes, then 3,400 Oregon Kaiser workers could walk off the job, joining 30,000 other Kaiser workers in 8 states in what may be the biggest strike of the year.
