Pinyon Jays are a species of conservation concern. FWCE MS student Bianca Sicich works on how forest management influences jay populations. She & FWCE faculty Martha Desmond & @FitsumAG were in Lincoln National Forest this week where this bird was 1 of a flock of 105 jays.

Day 8 is the Purple Sandpiper, a gorgeously purple-toned grey shorebird that I saw in Michigan last winter. Probably my favorite close-up bird photo I’ve ever taken. Also, today’s my birthday, so happy birthday, me!
